Job Description
The Senior Pastor serves as the primary preacher and visionary leader of the Northside Fellowship Church. This individual is a voting member of Session serving as Moderator and is both a member of and accountable to ECO’s Great Lakes Presbytery. The successful candidate will meet the biblical qualifications of an elder, plus exemplify the gifts necessary to lead the Northside Fellowship Church effectively.
The Session serves as the governing body of the Northside Fellowship Church, and is comprised of men and women elders. The Senior Pastor works in partnership with the Session to fulfill the vision that the Session discerns. The Session through the Senior Pastor holds the staff accountable to Northside’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The characteristics we are looking for include:
A passionate follower of Jesus who affirms and champions the Northside Fellowship Church Vision, Mission and Statement of Faith, as well as ascribes to the Essential Tenants of our denomination, (ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians)
Pastoral ministry experience, preferably with staff management experience
Ability and gifting to preach God’s Word maintaining sound scriptural integrity and be culturally relevant
A Shepherd’s heart demonstrating grace and compassion
A strong desire and gifting to connect with people both inside and outside of our faith community, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ
By the grace of God, lives a holy and pure lifestyle in obedience to God
A sense of humor and demonstrates a mature humility
A Master of Divinity, Master of Biblical Studies or Master of Theology
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the primary teaching pastor
Spend appropriate amount of time in study of God’s word and in prayer in preparation for teaching opportunities
Lead, empower, develop and guide the staff of Northside Fellowship Church
Regularly share with the Session the spiritual, organizational, and financial health of the staff and congregation
Serve as a leader by example in personal discipleship, stewardship, and evangelism
Listen to the Holy Spirit to formulate, refine, and communicate the strategic vision of the church in partnership with the Session
Work in partnership with the Session to make staffing decisions
When needed, counsel individuals and families on how to live Biblically faithful lives
