Position Description: Seeking a full-time Senior Pastor who is a man of God and set apart to the gospel ministry, in theological agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 Revision), and committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture. The Senior Pastor must be a man who exemplifies a godly character, is compassionate towards others, and demonstrates a high level of competence.

Responsibilities: The Senior Pastor will be a leader who understands God’s vision and helps the church make forward progress toward it. He will teach and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, engage in pastoral care ministries and evangelism, and provide oversight of all areas of church life and the ministerial staff. He will serve as an Elder/Overseer, Evangelist, Shepherd, Preacher/Teacher, and Equipper to the church.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years Senior Pastor experience, with staff oversight preferred.  The candidate will demonstrate a maturity and understanding of the complexities of guiding and growing a healthy congregation, allowing them to become stronger in their relationship with God and spreading his word throughout their community.

Education: Seminary education is preferred.

About our church: Shelbyville First Baptist Church currently has about 250+ weekly attenders (post Covid), plus an online presence. We offer Sunday School/Bible Study groups each Sunday morning, followed by a blended Sunday Worship service. We also offer Wednesday Evening Next Level activities for adults and youth and participate in many outreach events within our community.
