Vienna First Baptist Church is currently seeking a full-time senior pastor.
We are located in Vienna, a beautiful town in southern Illinois. Vienna is home to a population
of approximately 1,400 individuals. In addition, our community is frequently visited by numerous travelers, taking advantage of all that Johnson County has to offer. Since we have so much to offer, this opens the door for multiple opportunities for ministry and outreach.
Vienna First Baptist Church is a Jesus-centered, Bible-teaching church that strives to reach
people with the love of Jesus in our community, nation, and the world. Vienna has a rich history
within our community. We are a multigenerational church that reaches out to people of all ages.
God has called us to work together with other local congregations to more effectively share the
love of Jesus with our neighbors and all nations throughout the world. Our motto, “Vienna first,
the world next!” perfectly represents what we strive to be as our congregation grows. We have
chosen to support the Southern Baptist Convention, the Illinois Baptist State Association, and the
Union Baptist Association.
As pastor, you would be expected to lead, teach, encourage, and equip the congregation members to fulfill the Great Commission, in addition to engaging in pastoral care to those that are ill or home-bound. The part-time bi-vocational associate pastor will aid you.
Applicants should affirm and adhere to the principles found in the Baptist Faith and Message (as
revised by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000), be mission-minded, and have a heart for
evangelism. Our pastor needs to be friendly and able to relate to all ages within the congregation.
A minimum of five years’ experience and seminary training is preferred, however not required.
We are open to the will and direction of the Lord.
Those that feel led to apply should mail a resume that includes:
A cover letter with a picture of you/your family
A minimum of three references
A link or digital copy of a recent sermon
