Our pastor should have an excellent knowledge of scripture and be grounded in the reformed theological faith. They should feel comfortable and connected with our church family from the very young to the elderly. He/she should be a person of integrity, accountability, and honesty, as well as punctual and committed to confidentiality when the situation arises.
He/she should use leadership skills to draw on the strengths of the people to enable us to grow our congregation.
They should convey a sense of hope and a future to our congregation, being an encourager, so that we can make a difference in our community and accomplish great things for God’s Kingdom.
As a Spiritual leader, our pastor should lead our worship service using a blend of both traditional and contemporary worship styles. He/she should prepare and deliver effective sermons that relate the Gospel to the needs of the people and the times in which we live. He/she should be able to equip and empower our congregation to reach out by being involved socially and spiritually in the community. Building a relationship with each member of the congregation is important. Visitation is also important, not only to those who are sick or homebound, but also to the congregation as a whole. Administrative duties would include supervising the staff and being a resource person for the Session and its committees.
