    Job Description

    Reports To: Senior Minister and Eldership

    Summary

    The Student Minister of Milford Christian Church serves as the teacher and leader of students from 7th grade through completion of High School.  The Student Minister is to work to fulfill our commitment to nurture young people with and beyond our congregation in the Christian faith.  The Student Minister is responsible for following the vision and mission of the church and leading those in Student Ministry to fulfill this vision and mission in conjunction with the Ministers of the Church. The Student Minister reports to and works directly with the Senior Minister, staff team, and Eldership to maintain the health and faithfulness of the church.  This person should lead by example and should cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family.  The person in this role should represent Christ and His church well in the community at large and lead with integrity, courage, and humility.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Leadership

    • Create a vision for the student ministry that works in unison with the overall mission and vision of the church.
    • Continual development and maintain relevant and impactful student experiences.
    • Encourage and promote student involvement within the church as a whole (Main worship services, churchwide events, and outreach opportunities).
    • Developing and maintaining consistent small groups for students.
    • Coordinate and design outreach events and discipleship events.
    • Coordinate and participate in conferences and camps when available.
    • Communicate regularly with parents about student ministry issues.
    • Utilize social media to promote events, encourage students, and communicate with parents.
    • Work on consistent curriculum evaluation and development .
    • Develop relationships with students in a professional, mentoring manner.
    • Train and oversee additional adult sponsors for help with a variety of Student Ministry needs and chaperone larger events.

    Relationships

    • Counseling duties as needed
    • Pastoral duties (i.e. Family issues, funerals, weddings, etc.) as needed

    Qualifications

    Personal

    • Maintain a growing and deepening relationship with God
    • Adhere to and teach the theological positions of the church
    • Model the qualifications of an Elder (I Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9)
    • Model Biblical community – participate in a regular group (Matt 5:23-24, Matt 18:15-17, Eph. 4:25-32)
    • Model Biblical family life (Eph. 5:22-6:4)
    • Model Biblical integrity (1 Timothy 6:11-12)
    • Model Biblical humility (Phil 2:5-11)
    • Be a regular, consequential giver to the church

    Professional

    • Maintain a proper budget for your ministry (including proper records, receipts, etc.)
    • Must be willing to work on continuing education (seminars, conferences, additional degrees, etc.)
    • Work on continual volunteer recruitment and training
    • Cast and develop vision for your ministry group including tangible goals
    • Must be a team player, and be teachable
    • Develop and maintain relationships with peers in ministry
    • Must maintain consistent office hours
    • Must attend and participate in regular staff meetings
    • Must have appropriate, current computer skills
    • Must be able to do light physical work
    • Must be able to work in conjunction with Senior Minister and Eldership – including proper communication and developing a good working relationship.

    Other Experience

    • Ability to help with preaching, worship, audio visual, and participate in elements of the main worship service is a bonus.
