Leon Springs Baptist Church seeks to fill a position of Student Minister. This position will initially be a part time non-exempt position that will transition to full time. Its focus will be to develop and maintain strategies that will allow Leon Springs Baptist Church to minister to 7th – 12th grade students in ways that glorify God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Starting salary will range from $20 to $24 per hour based on skill and experience.
The Student Minister must have a love for God, a love for teenagers, and a pastoral heart. The Student Minister must be an energetic, relational, highly motivated person with a deep foundation in scripture, a love for Christ, and a passion to see youth grow in their relationship with Christ.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish annual goals, objectives and plans to implement the youth ministry strategies. Make disciples (Love God, Love People, Make Disciples). Communicate our mission: Healing Place. Equipping saints to Serve. Spiritual role model. Ability to develop/provide solid/dynamic biblical teaching. Build/recruit a team of volunteers, mentors, and interns (following strict safety guidelines). Build relationships with the students (outside of services) and their parents.
Organize and maintain structure:
Weekly and special events. Integrate with missions, adult ministries, bridging generations so students grow into adult church members. Develop and adhere to annual budget. Be a team player – with overall church staff and church priorities. Will be working under the direction of LSBC’s Family Ministry. Plan and oversee all youth activities and programs. This includes but is not limited to the following: youth retreats, mission trips, other special events, responsibility for all youth related classes (7th – 12th grade), and curriculum development. Establish a friendly rapport with and among the youth through a variety of fun, and purposeful activities. Encourage the youth to get involved in ministry and provide them frequent opportunities to do so. Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to the youth as called upon. Give ongoing opportunities to hear the gospel message, opportunities for discipleship and to assist them to become spiritually mature Christians. Recruit, train and oversee volunteer youth staff. Maintain open communication with church staff, parents, youth and members of the congregation. Attend scheduled staff meetings.
Must be willing to join Leon Springs Baptist Church and attend services for this position. Must be a born again, baptized believer, willing to embrace and adhere to the fundamental doctrinal positions of the Southern Baptist Texas Convention. Must be a good Christian/Spiritual role model. Must be willing to undergo a mandatory background investigation. Shall perform the duties of this position while submitting to the leadership of the church pastor.
