Job Description

North Brewton Baptist Church, located in Brewton, Alabama, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Associate Pastor for Student Ministry and Worship Leadership.

The leadership of North Brewton Baptist Church is committed to investing in the personal growth of the candidate by providing a variety of opportunities to develop ministry gifting including preaching, teaching, and evangelism. Our goal is not only to find someone to serve in our congregation, but also to help equip the candidate for faithful and fruitful ministry in the future. Interested candidates should send a resume, references, and preaching/teaching/worship leader sample video(s) or audio (if available).

Commitment of the Pastor and Church Leadership to the Successful Candidate:
Weekly meetings with the pastor for a time of prayer and ministry planning
Weekly prayer with other leaders
The church will provide opportunities to apply classroom education to real-life ministry through teaching the Bible, leading worship, personal evangelism and discipleship, administrative tasks, and leading volunteers

Principal Function: To lead the church in ministry to youth and college students and to assist the pastor in leading the corporate worship of the church.

Responsibilities (may be adjusted somewhat according to ministry calling, experience, training, and spiritual gifts):

Student Ministry
Engage in the discipleship and evangelism of youth and college students in our congregation and the larger Brewton community
Teach Youth Sunday School and Wednesday Night Bible Study
Lead Student Activities including summer camp, retreats, and mission opportunities
Plan fun and engaging activities for the youth with the purpose of building relationships to facilitate greater opportunities for discipleship and evangelism

Worship Ministry
Work directly with the pastor to plan congregational worship services by selecting hymns, contemporary songs, and choral arrangements that glorify God, are theologically sound, and nourish the minds and hearts of the congregation
Develop orders of service that may include music, prayer, Scripture readings, responsive readings, and confessions of faith
Assist the pastor in planning special services for Easter, Christmas, and other occasions
Lead congregation and choir during Sunday morning and evening worship services and choir practice
Identify members of the congregation with musical gifts and encourage them to participate in the music ministry
Maintain an organized music library, record CCLI usage, manage music budget, record song selections

Pastoral Ministry
Assist the pastor with relational, administrative, and teaching ministries of the church
Preach/teach during services (according to applicant’s interest, training, and gifting)
Attend committee meetings related to the student and worship ministries
Read and discuss books and articles with the pastor to promote ongoing learning and mutual discipleship

Compensation:
This is a full time, entry-level ministry position. A salary, housing allowance, and benefits will be provided.

Requirements:

The church is primarily looking for candidates with pastoral training and giftings, and while some ability to lead in musical aspects of worship is required, it does not necessarily need to be the candidate’s primary gifting. Some specific responsibilities can be modified to best fit the spiritual gifts, ministry calling, and abilities of the successful candidate. The applicant must be a baptized believer who is currently active in his local church. Qualifications include a love for Christ and the Church, a discernible call to vocational Christian ministry, and a teachable attitude. It is preferred that applicants have, or will soon complete, a seminary degree. Must be able to affirm the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 and North Brewton’s Church Covenant.
