1. Develop the vision and curriculum for student ministries
Design and oversee biblically sound curriculum for all youth programs, events and classes, that encourages ongoing spiritual growth.
Complement curriculum with devotionals, blogs, videos, games, small group time and fun and safe outings.
Stay in sync with other church staff by preparing thorough updates on the status of the ministry at regular staff meetings and brainstorming with the other leadership members how to address new opportunities.
2. Lead the Sunday, mid-week and other youth gatherings
Carry out the programs to grow the student’s relationship with the Lord and each other.
Maintain an inviting environment.
Provide a safe environment.
Use social media to keep students informed of current and upcoming events.
Display a Christ-like approach and lifestyle.
Create and update a database of parent contacts and communicate with them on a regular basis to share any significant experiences and alert them of upcoming events.
Provide opportunities for students to serve in the community and beyond, through short and long-term service projects and mission trips.
Lead or organize leaders for youth worship
3. Provide spiritual counseling and pastoral care to local students and parents during times of difficulty and major crisis.
4. Oversee ministry staff and volunteers
Lead efforts to recruit volunteer leaders.
Take time to inspire, consult and support them to ensure spiritual vibrancy and ministry effectiveness.
Lead volunteers in the initiation and implementation of new ministry strategies.
Ensure volunteers and staff are familiar with CLCC’s Statement of Faith and child protective policies.
5. Develop relationships
Support students in other school events where practical such as sporting events and awards ceremonies.
Disciple/mentor students and leaders.
Available to work with and in support of church staff ministry team.
Enjoy working in a team environment.
Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in theology, biblical studies or youth ministry.
Previous youth ministry experience.
Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of young people.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with social media.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Strong budget management skills.
Genuine love for young people.
