    Job Description

    The Student Pastor is responsible to provide spiritual leadership to our adolescents. They are to lead and train youth and youth ministry workers and oversee youth in the church. They are to plan youth programs and activities. Staff & Church Officers Relationship: I. Senior Pastor • The Student Pastor will report directly to the Pastor, who will supervise, evaluate, and provide a report to Deacons for annual review

    Qualifications: Preferred Characteristics

    • Testify to a calling by God to work as a Student Pastor

    • Be a Biblically based & spiritual filled Christian, ascribing to the vision of the church

    • Be able to effectively study the Bible, demonstrating regularly effective preparation to preach, teach, and counsel from it

    • Posses or be pursuing a college degree in a ministry related field

    • Possess at least two years of experience working with youth and/or children in lay or ministerial role

    • Be a good person of good moral character

    • Demonstrate good interpersonal and relationship building skills

    • Demonstrate being comfortable speaking in public and small group settings

    • Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills

    • Be able to pass a thorough criminal/background check

    • Ability to obtain and posses a CDL with passenger endorsement

    Job Functions:

    • Manage and direct the youth ministry by leading Sunday School and Wednesday evening programs for the youth (in grades 6 through grade 12) such as bible study or fellowship activities

    • Develop and implement a yearly calendar of youth activities in conjunction with the youth committee to be published for all church members and prospective church members

    • Organize and facilitate both children and youth summer camp experiences/mission trips

    • Develop a discipleship program for youth (in grades 6 through grade 12); develop relationships with the youth through visitation, attendance at school events, etc.…

    • Develop, oversee, and organize regular fellowship events as follows: At a minimum of at least one Fifth Quarter event, two whole group outings, at least 4 Sunday or weekday night fellowship events, Vacation Bible School, Fall Festival, as well as an outreach program that will regularly attract new members to the youth programs of our church

    • Be the contact person for the parents and create a network of communication with parents

    • Oversee the Children’s Ministry activities for children in grades kindergarten through grade 5 by organizing and ensuring quality programs are planned to effectively encourage children to develop a personal relationship with Christ.

    • Meet with and assist Wednesday Night Children’s Activity Director as needed

    • Cooperate with the Pastor in developing and managing the youth yearly line items in the church budget

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Arrange a weekly work schedule so (40) working hours are accomplished at the church or out in the field ministering to youth members or prospective members and their families

    • Meet monthly with the Pastor to communicate youth program progress including numbers and growth projections

    • Meet at least once a month with the youth committee of FBC to acquire feedback from members and ensure concerns/conflicts are addressed before they become problems

    • Adhere to the church bylaws and policies and procedures adopted by the church

    Demonstrate a Personal Example of Living a Mature Christian Life:

    • Maintain a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study and prayer

    • Maintain proper priorities at home

    Description of Time Away from Church:

    • The Student Pastor of FBC-HS will be at church a minimum of 45 weeks during the year both at church on Sunday and Wednesdays and in the office/local field during the week. Sundays or Wednesdays away from FBC-HS not part of the student pastor’s scheduled vacation will be for the purpose of conferences, revivals, mission trips or other opportunities to represent our church or for refreshing him spiritually. The Student Pastor will arrange for a substitute leader, quest speakers, and other speakers when he is away
