Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Student Pastor must be an experienced leader, with excellent relational and communication skills. The candidate should be passionate, hard-working, teachable, fun and enjoy being part of our fast-growing community. This role requires experience in collaborating with staff in a high-volume work environment, building relationships with parents and Serve Team (volunteers) members. The Student Pastor must plan student ministry programing in regards to the current student culture and be centered around relationships that matter and serving opportunities. Utilize organizational and administrative skills to carry out the day-to-day operations of the Student Ministry. The Student Pastor must be experienced and familiar with overseeing departmental budgets. They must be committed to leading at the campus level as well as in all areas of student ministry and partnering with the kids’ ministry team for the success of kids, students and families.

PURPOSE:

Responsible for (1) oversight and management of the student ministry on campus (2) input into the management of department budget, expenses and event revenue (3) coordinating all components of the weekly services and other student events as it relates to the student ministry programming for the campus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years experience in student ministry
3-5 years of managerial experience is helpful
Leadership experience managing a volunteer team of leaders
Adaptable-willing and open to change, be flexible in a variety of situations
Collaborative – be a team player giving and receiving input, willing to compromise & cooperate
Must demonstrate courage – willing to be gracefully bold and be stretched beyond your comfort zone
Must possess a genuine humility and work well in the context of a team
Effective communicator – exhibits clear and effective verbal and non-verbal skills
Must be a multiplier – able to develop people, systems and structures to facilitate growth
Demonstrate ownership – be a forward thinker who assumes responsibility and takes initiative
Relatable – cares about others and chooses to include them
Must possess a genuine positive attitude
Able to succeed in a high expectation environment
4-year degree preferred
Clearance of a criminal background check

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership, oversight and management of the student ministry and Serve Team (volunteers) at the campus level
Develop Serve Team (volunteers) that create relationships with students and parents. This includes identifying, recruiting, training/equipping and developing leaders
Create a student ministry culture that is in line with the church purpose and vision
Oversee and manage all aspects of student’s programming from the campus level including small groups, mid-week gatherings, camps, mission trips and special student events in collaboration with the other student team staff
Assisting with the management of all aspects of the budget for CT Students in partnership with Director of Finance and other Student Pastor(s)
Partner with campus Kids Pastor to develop and implement Family Ministry philosophy
Collaborate with Student team to create and implement new elements within the student’s areas and/or programming setting specific goals and objectives for CT Student Ministry
Collaborate and partner with other CT staff teams as it relates to student’s programming communicating necessary information to all involved as it pertains to students for the campus
Responsible for developing strong interpersonal relationships with attenders, leadership and staff. Must be able to delegate, motivate, influence and inspire trust and loyalty with campus staff and Serve Team members.
Able to laugh, enjoy work and not afraid to address conflict using the biblical model (Matthew 18)
Stay informed on current educational methods, materials, and promotional ideas
Follow up with CT families and guest families/students as needed
Includes but is not limited to oversite of the processing and maintaining background reports for Serve Team leaders
Creativity-the ability to think outside the box developing fresh new elements
Self-Starter-the ability to work independently

PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Cross Timbers Church pastor exhibits the heart to pray for, shepherd, encourage and lead people to Christ. The church qualifies and commissions a pastor as an individual who has been given the responsibility and or authority to administer in full or in part the following:

Biblical Teaching to the congregation or sub-part of the congregation (i.e. kids; students; college)
Lead or have oversight of a church ministry; program or department
Perform religious/spiritual functions of the church
Baptisms
Weddings
Funerals/memorial services
Pastoral (not licensed) counsel

WORK HOURS:

Monday – Tuesday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Thursday 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Sundays 7:00 -1:00
Must understand that ministry does not always fall within a normal 9:00 – 5:00 schedule and working outside of that schedule including weekends and holidays for CT sponsored events may be required.
All staff members are required to attend Refuel, essential and other leadership development meetings. Vacations and personal time should not be scheduled that will interfere with attendance. Any exceptions must be approved by the manager.
All staff members are required to work Christmas and Easter services and the week leading up to each holiday. The schedule for these services can vary according to the campus needs and the yearly calendar.

WORK ENVIRONMENT – PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires bending, stooping and stretching to file, and occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Work is generally performed indoors, but may involve limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
