The transitional pastor will do the traditional work of an interim minister. He/she will preach, teach and provide pastoral care. She/he will supervise the church staff which includes an associate pastor who works primarily with youth and Christian education, a director of music, a financial secretary and a custodian; plus part-time staff which includes a director of Christian education, an administrative assistant, and a buildings supervisor. The transitional pastor will moderate the Session and serve as a liaison to a number of Session committees. It is hoped that he/she will lead the two weekly Bible studies which will start again in the fall on Wednesdays and Fridays. He/she will help the congregation in this time of transition, preparing the church to look forward in anticipation of a new pastor.
If the interim minister employed is one of ECO’s Certified Transitional Pastors, then we will provide what ECO requires in the contract. Matters such as salary, benefits, vacation, study leave, relocation expenses will have to be negotiated depending on the particular circumstances of the minister.
