Job Description

First Christian Church in Newburgh, IN is seeking a Student Ministry Coordinator to lead our dynamic ministry to Middle School and High School students.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate a mature faith and desire to disciple students to grow from unbelief to belief in every area of life.  He or she will be energetic, able to build a leadership team with students and adults, able to communicate Biblical truth in both large and small group settings, and will possess a natural ability to connect with teens and understand the challenges they face in current culture.  The Student Ministry Coordinator will be an integral member of the Family Ministries team and must be able to work independently with minimal direct oversight while still maintaining effective teamwork skills.  To apply for this position, please send a Cover Letter and Resume to Holly Gillespie.


  • Passion for 6th-12th grade students and their families with a focus on spiritual formation, discipleship, and shepherding
  • Spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, and administration
  • Ability to communicate Biblical truth with enthusiasm and clarity
  • Experience sharing the gospel
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate to and build relationships with students and their families


  • Shepherd and provide pastoral care for the students, student ministry teams, and families
  • Regularly cast and communicate vision
  • Provide leadership to ensure direction and development for student ministries which fulfills the mission/vision of FC
  • Lead the development implementation, and administration of student ministry including, but not limited to, outreach, discipleship, small groups, large groups, and other event experiences
  • Oversee the use of age-appropriate curriculum
  • Recruit, equip, and empower leaders to disciple students through team strategy
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for future development of student ministry
  • Maintain a focus on personal growth and accountability including:
    • Consistent daily prayer and Bible reading
    • Cultivation of intentional discipling relationships
    • Connection with others for mutual encouragement
    • Commitment to God-ordained life priorities with Jesus first, spouse second, children third, and church ministry fourth
