The majority of the youth assistants’ work will be to oversee discipleship through regular small group meetings, Bible studies, as well as contact work with the students in the youth group and their friends outside the group. The youth assistants will also work together and in conjunction with the Pastor of Youth and Families to plan activities and events, recruit and coordinate volunteers, and teach during weekly youth group.
These assistants will take on the weekly discipleship of and outreach towards middle and high schoolers at The River and beyond. The majority of this work will take place in the evenings and on weekends to fit with the schedules of our students. A person in this position must be mature, both in their life and in their faith. They should have a strong desire to walk alongside and disciple teenage students, as well as to meet and reach out to the friends of our current youth. The ideal candidates are energetic, enthusiastic leaders with a drive to develop students and to continually reach out and bring new people in. One assistant will focus primarily on discipleship of boys, and one will focus primarily on discipleship of girls.
