    Job Overview

    The Congregation of Laval Christian Fellowship is currently seeking a spiritually mature and devoted servant of God, who is biblically called, qualified, and experienced to serve the Lord as Senior Pastor.

    The body of LCF has come to highly value:
    • The preaching of the Cross; makes central the proclamation of Christ’s death and resurrection not only as the ignition for the Christian life, but the fuel for the entire journey toward Christlikeness. Cross-centred preaching also known as gospel-centred preaching is distinct from saying biblical preaching, where the focus is on explaining Scripture.
    • A deep and abiding prayer life, individually and corporately
    • The importance of living a Christian life is marked by humility, holiness, and authenticity.

    The Governance and Leadership Structure of Laval Christian Fellowship is an English-speaking assembly of believers led by an elected board that is directly responsible to the congregation and oversees all aspects of church life. LCF is affiliated with the C&MA since 2017.

    The Position of Senior Pastor
    We are seeking a senior pastor that:
    • can work under the supervision and tutelage of the board
    • can embody and embraces our rich spiritual heritage,
    • Will help LCF continue in its vision of God’s work in our community,
    • Will help us grow in membership and outreach to all age groups.

    Job Description

    SUMMARY OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Service and sermon planning
    • Lead or oversee prayer meetings, bible studies and other discipleship activities
    • Spending time in prayer and spiritual renewal fellowship
    • Officiating communion, baptism, weddings, and funeral services
    • Counselling and praying for church members
    • Visiting the sick
    • Lead in administering and planning church operations and activities

    SUMMARY OF ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Referral of church members in need to outside resources and agencies as needed
    • Participation in ministerial and community organizations for the benefit of the church and the pastoral staff
    • Office responsibilities-overseeing the church staff
    • Holding and leading regular official church meetings to coordinate activities in various ministries and to keep the congregation informed Experience:
    • The ideal candidate’s experience will include:
    • 3 to 6 years’ experience as a Senior Pastor. Previous church leadership and ministry experience, including providing pastoral services to the church and community will also be considered
    • Experience leading the congregation in Christian education, bible study, training classes,workshops etc.
    • Experience in performing the church’s special functions and ceremonial leadership, such as officiating weddings and funerals
    • Experience in counselling, conflict resolution and mediation, and other outreach services
    • A demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead congregation and community events, activities, and outreach

    Education and Qualifications:
    A Master of Divinity degree is preferred: however, a combination of formal ministry training and pastoral experience will be considered. C&MA accreditation will be required after the selection process.

    Salary:
    The salary for this position is determined by the C&MA guideline.

    • Verification of completion of undergrad or graduate degrees from accredited university or college
    • Verification of theological training or degrees
    • Videos or weblinks of recordings of previous sermons or teachings
    • Five references include a pastor or spiritual leader, a supervisor, a parishioner who sat under your ministry, a peer and a teacher or professor who taught you
    • The candidate must complete background and credit review checks
