Christ Episcopal Church located in historic New Bern, NC is seeking a full-time Director of Music. Duties include planning, rehearsing, and performing the music for two Sunday services as well as Weddings and Funerals. Both Sunday services use Rite II Holy Eucharist, with hymns from the 1982 Hymn Book at 11:00; 8:30 service uses WLP, LEVAS and occasionally the 1982.  Additional services and sacred concerts include Evensongs, Advent Lessons and Carols, Good Friday Passiontide Service, All Saints Day requiem and Taize services. Music for these concerts has included Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Rutter’s Requiem, and Chilcott’s St. John Passion. Choirs are a 20+ voice traditional choir and 15+ voice contemporary choir. Available instruments are a two manual Taylor and Boody tracker organ (installation November 2023), two pianos, (a Yamaha C6 and a 1903 Steinway O), a three-octave hand bell set, a full carillon and Orff instruments. Requirements are a Master of Music, minimum of 5-7 years experience, strong knowledge and love of Anglican liturgy and familiarity with contemporary Christian music. Experience with a children’s program is desirable. Compensation package contains full benefits, salary starting at $70,000 and is commiserate with AAM guidelines.
