Job Description
All Saints Anglican Church in Montrose, Colorado is seeking a full-time rector to guide, nourish, serve, and grow with our family in Christ. We fervently believe that God has chosen for us a motivated, energetic leader who, through the Holy Spirit, is committed to care for the old, welcome the young, foster unity, and effectively communicate the Gospel and the Anglican tradition.
Personal Traits:
– Exemplifies a personal, vital, growing, and Spirit-led faith in Jesus Christ.
– Appreciates and makes relevant the Anglican tradition of theology, spirituality and liturgy.
– Models and encourages hospitality within the congregation.
– Displays a spirit of ecumenism, willing to work alongside other believers regardless of denomination.
– Encourages unity, recognizing and celebrating the myriad parts that make up the Body of Christ.
– Collaborates with laity and encourages the development of their gifts.
– Honestly, openly, carefully listens to others, and is able to accept and give feedback with humility.
– Models self-care, sets healthy boundaries, and fosters structures of accountability.
– Recognizes their own spiritual gifts and shortcomings, relying on the Holy Spirit to effectively employ those gifts while seeking help to overcome those shortcomings
Worship and Service:
Skillfully write and preach relevant sermons strongly rooted in God’s Word.
– Passionately lead the church’s liturgical life, celebrating the Eucharist, worship services and officiating at weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
– Facilitate authentic worship through a variety of music styles, encouraging and working alongside volunteer worship leaders.
– Encourage and oversee the education and spiritual formation of the congregation.
– Empower, equip and support laity in ministry, mission and evangelism.
Pastoral:
– Ensure the care of individuals and families in time of need, sorrow, celebration, and transition by making pastoral calls to members of the congregation, and equipping and empowering others to do the same.
– Respond to pastoral emergencies; counsel, and refer individuals and families in crisis.
– Be receptive to the gifts of the Holy Spirit and supportive of healing ministry.
Administration:
– Possess a working knowledge of the administrative and business aspects of the church, with understanding of the responsibilities of the priest, vestry, and the combined responsibilities of both.
In areas lacking proficiency of administration and finance, they should be open to coaching and guidance.
– Actively lead the administrative life of the church, not just manage it.
– Delegate tasks effectively and with discernment, exercising authority to hold those delegates responsible.
– Foster strong relationships with the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains, ACNA, and worldwide Anglican Communion, representing our parish to these bodies.
– Undergo mutual annual review process with the vestry.
Qualifications:
– A reputation for Christlike character and emotional maturity.
– 2+ years ministry experience in an Anglican setting, including regular preaching duties.
– A priest in the Anglican Church of North America or eligible for transfer into the ACNA. Willing to submit to episcopal oversight in the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains.
Salary & benefits commensurate with experience and in accordance with diocesan guidelines.
