    Job Description

    Associate Pastor sought to serve large, multi-generational, rural community church.

    Duties to include teaching, preaching, discipling, and leading the congregation in groups and as individuals while under the direct supervision of the current Senior Pastor.

    A distinct opportunity exists for development into the Senior Pastor role within several years.

    Master of Divinity is required for consideration. Prior pastoral experience required (lay or professional); 3-5 years preferred. Applicants must be ordained (or eligible for ordination) by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

    Qualities and Qualifications
    • Affirm, unequivocally, the singular saving nature of Jesus Christ.
    • Applicant must be currently ordained as a Teaching Elder in the EPC, or able to qualify as a Teaching Elder in the EPC.
    • Show evidence of not only teaching and encouraging discipleship ministries, but also personally involved in being discipled and intentionally discipling others.
    • Personal, ongoing involvement in short term missions on a regular basis, both local and foreign, which are founded upon the Great Commission.
    • Actively support lay ministers to develop their role in the church universal and create a safe environment for laity to birth significant projects.
    • Demonstrate ability to gently navigate potential divisive issues.
    • Be able to explain why the Bible is the authoritative, inspired Word of God in a coherent, relevant, and understandable way for average people.
    • Be open to various expressions of the Holy Spirit within the body.
    • Exhibit humility, be teachable and demonstrate a leading by the Holy Spirit through regular prayer and being in the Word.
    • Possess proven exegetical abilities.
    • Seeks personal spiritual growth.
    • Possess the ability to listen well.
    • Is an active encourager.

    Specific Responsibilities
    • Champion the Life Group ministry of Wabash by:
    o Having an eye towards funneling members and/or attendees into groups.
    o Having direct oversight of Life Group/Missional Community ministry leadership including, but not limited to recruiting, training,            and encouraging leaders through regular contact.
    o Train and support groups willing to become Missional Communities to impact the communities surrounding Wabash Church              and beyond.
    • Intentionally shepherd the members and attendees of Wabash Church.
    • Work directly with Welcome Committee in the maintaining of greeter, safety, and welcome ministry.
    • Work closely with the Senior Pastor in creating a path of membership for attendees.
    • Work collegially with all of staff in identifying and supporting active disciple makers in all ministries.
    • Work closely in a mentoring relationship with the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff. This will involve specific assignments or  responsibilities deemed beneficial for growth as determined by the Senior Pastor.
    • Preach, teach, and assist in worship at the direction of the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff.
    • Maintain regular office hours.
    • Submit to Washington State Patrol background check.
