    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: The Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for the teaching, training, discipleship, and evangelism of children ages birth through sixth grade, with emphasis placed on the mission and vision of First Baptist Starkville.

    EDUCATION: Completed or In-Progress Seminary Degree preferred

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of experience in Children’s Ministry

    SUPERVISED BY: Associate Pastor of Equipping

    EVALUATED BY: Associate Pastor of Equipping

    DIRECT REPORTS: Preschool Director, Intern(s), Resident(s)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ●  Create, direct, and evaluate the ministry and programming for all children K-6th grade.
    ●  Supervise the Preschool Director, Intern(s), and Resident(s).
    ●  Recruit, equip, and enable children’s ministry leadership.
    ●  Disciple parents to become strong spiritual leaders in their homes.
    ●  Implement follow-up strategies for Children’s Ministries.
    ●  Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and community.
    ●  Evaluate, implement, and/or develop a detailed budget proposal for Children’s Ministries.
    ●  Revise policies for the effective functioning of Children’s Ministries, including but not limited to:
    – Background Checks;
    – Photography Permissions;
    – Safety Procedures;
    – Discipline Protocols.
    ● Meet with families regarding children’s:
    – Profession of faith;
    – Baptism;
    – Continued Discipleship.
    ● Plan, develop, and organize activities for children, including but not limited to:
    – Sunday mornings;
    – Wednesday nights;
    – Summer;
    – Forums to equip parents;
    – Regular fellowship activities for children outside of Sundays and Wednesdays;
    – Emphasize regular mission opportunities for children and their families to Live Sent.
    ● Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    ●  Abiding walk with Christ;
    ●  Passion for children’s ministry;
    ●  Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills;
    ●  Forward thinking and goal-oriented;
    ●  Public speaking skills;
    ●  Awareness of technology and social media;
    ●  Problem-solving skills.
