    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Senior Pastor to join our ministry team and lead our congregation through servant leadership and expository preaching. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to developing the Biblical literacy and Gospel devotion of the congregation.

    Senior Pastor Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver engaging, exegetically derived weekly sermons during worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.
    • Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation, promoting a culture of humility, faith, love, and service.
    • Plan and lead services in collaboration with the Worship Pastor, and ensure that services are meaningful and spiritually enriching.
    • Provide pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis.
    • Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship through the development and implementation of small group ministries, Bible studies, and other educational curricula for all age ranges.
    • Work with church leadership and staff to establish and execute a vision and strategic plan for the church’s growth and leadership development.
    • Effectively partner with Youth Pastor, Missions Pastor, College Pastor, and Children’s Director to ensure each ministry is operating with excellence.
    • Engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and mission activities, and working to address community needs.
    • Oversee the administration and management of church operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and personnel management in the church office.
    • Mentor, supervise, and support church staff and volunteers with the aim of training future church leaders.
    • Perform other pastoral duties, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, and dedications, as required.
    • Coordinate with and lead the Deacons in serving the congregation.

    Senior Pastor Qualifications:

    • A deep commitment to the sufficiency and inerrancy of Scripture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a mature and growing devotion to the faith.
    • A Masters Degree from an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary is required, with a preference towards Master of Divinity or Doctorate.
    • Ordination from a church of like faith and practice, and good standing within a recognized Baptist affiliation/convention.
    • A minimum of 10 years of pastoral experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of service at a previous church, showing a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.
    • Exceptional and dynamic communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse, rural congregation and adapt to various ministry contexts.
    • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for empowering and training future leaders while fostering a collaborative environment.
    • A deep understanding of and commitment to Biblical theology, inerrancy, Christian apologetics, and the Southern Baptist tradition.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, organize events, and work effectively under pressure.
    • A heart for pastoral care and the ability to provide compassionate and empathetic support to congregation members in times of need.
    • Commitment to Biblical church unity, with the ability to lead congregation in reconciliatory efforts.
