    Job Description

    PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The Church Planter in Residence is responsible for forming a core group of people within Chris Covenant and the community, working with local PCA pastors and church planters, and launching a church plant within two years or less in or around the surrounding counties of Knox County, TN.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    INTERNAL RESPONSIBILITY AT CHRIST COVENANT
    • Work on the Church Planter in Residence Training Manual which covers all the areas of the church from children’s ministry – senior adults ministry.
    • Read the required books (located within Church Planter in Residence Training Manual).
    • Meet with the Senior Pastor monthly for training, which includes working in a cohort with other pastors in training.
    • Form a core group Sunday morning or evening class and prepare to launch within two years.
    • Work with Church Planting Committee of Christ Covenant’s Session.
    • Assist the Senior Pastor in developing, implementing, and modeling an effective evangelism ministry for the entire congregation and future church plant.

    EXTERNAL RESPONSIBILITY
    • Work with other Knoxville pastors to form partnerships and understand the demographics of Knoxville and surrounding communities
    • Work with MNA Committee of Presbytery
    • Be a part of the Knox County Church Network
    • Raise money for future church plant

    GENERAL PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Attend monthly staff meetings
    • Preach as requested, which may include a Sunday evening service
    • Attend Presbytery meetings and General Assembly
    • Attend Session meetings
    • Attend Leadership Staff meetings
    • Attend any other trainings that will be beneficial for church planting

    ACCOUNTABILITY:
    The Church Planter in Residence is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor for day-to-day performance, and to the Church Planting Committee of the Session for performance related to the Principal Function.

    HOURS:
    Primarily regular office hours Monday through Friday. However, because of the demands of the job, the Church Planter in Residence will find it necessary to spend many hours in attendance at various meetings outside of normal hours. Therefore, by agreement of the Senior Pastor, the Church Planter in Residence will be allowed to maintain a flexible office schedule.

    EXEMPT
    Christ Covenant will provide a base salary with benefits. The Church Planter in Residence will be expected to raise some extra money for future plant and potential salary increase.
