Job Description

Orchard Community Church’s Discipleship and Outreach Assistant Pastor (if ordained) or Director is a key role that helps foster spiritual growth and outreach within our church community. This person will also assist the Pastor in pastoral duties.

RESPONSIBILITES

Discipleship
Continue to deepen the discipleship culture of Orchard by expanding our current programming of classes, small groups, mentorship programs, and new growth initiatives.

Coordinate current discipleship ministries and new growth initiatives with the Pastor, ministry leaders, and volunteers to effectively meet the needs of the church community.

Provide mentoring and discipleship support to the church community.

Develop strategies for identifying and nurturing new leaders.

Outreach
Coordinate current outreach ministry and events with the Pastor, ministry leaders, and volunteers to help the church connect with and serve the wider community.

Strengthen our current outreach strategies specifically targeted at a younger demographic and our preschool families.

Church Leadership Collaboration
Collaborate with Session to ensure that the discipleship and outreach programs are aligned with the mission and vision of the church.

In cooperation with our Digital Media Coordinator, improve Orchard’s online digital communication and social media presence for the purpose of outreach.

If ordained, assist with worship leadership, preaching, pastoral care, and hospital visits.

Relationships
The Discipleship and Outreach Assistant Pastor (if ordained) or Director is under the direct authority of the Pastor (Head of Staff). This person will provide oversight and coordination of Children’s and Youth Ministries. They will also coordinate the outreach activities of Sonshine Preschool with Youth and Children’s ministries as necessary. The Directors of Youth and Children’s Ministries will report directly to this person.

Qualifications

Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a deep understanding of the Bible.

Has a track record of successfully leading discipleship groups and outreach programs, as well as a passion for helping others grow in their faith and reaching out to others with the gospel.

Has experience inspiring and motivating others, as well as the ability to organize and coordinate events and programs.

Can effectively teach and communicate the gospel to individuals and groups of people – both those who are new to their faith and those who are more mature.

Is approachable, empathetic, and can connect with people.

Can effectively convey the love of Jesus Christ through preaching (if ordained), pastoral care, and personal example.

COMPENSATION
The Discipleship and Outreach Assistant Pastor (if ordained) or Director is a full-time exempt position. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits, including study leave, vacation, and paid sick leave. The salary range begins at $80K, with room for negotiation based on experience and qualifications.
