    Job Description

    PURPOSE:
    The Children’s Minister is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive ministry for preschoolers and children.

    •Continue professional growth and development through annual/ongoing training events and conferences

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Lead in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of weekly spiritual growth events including, but not limited to:
    •Sunday School
    •Children’s Church
    •Wednesday night children’s ministries

    Lead in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of annual and seasonal events
    including, but not limited to:
    •Vacation Bible School
    •Fall Festival
    •Easter Egg Hunt
    •Pre-teen Camp
    •Summer Ministry Events
    •Children’s “Salvation Education” Classes
    •Baby Dedications

    Recruit, train and encourage volunteers for serving in the Children’s Ministry.

    Develop leadership opportunities for children (especially 5 – 6 graders).

    Develop a strategy to communicate and minister to families of children.

    Coordinate with the Minister of Worship on Children’s Ministry music/worship song selections.

    Plan, coordinate and evaluate quarterly fellowship-oriented events/trips as well as educational events (i.e. family trips to a sporting event or a family night dealing with a specific theme).

    Maintain the Children’s Ministry section of the church website.

    In coordination with the FBC Staff, plan and communicate the Children’s Ministry calendar.

    Actively maintain and supervise Children’s Ministry assistants and interns.

    Provide basic Christian counseling for both parent and child on appropriate subjects/issues.

    Develop and submit an annual Children Ministry budget.

    Keep informed of new trends in Christian children’s ministry through publications, online resources, and at least one out-of-town conference per year; become a children’s ministry strategist for First Baptist Church.

    Plan, organize, and lead the training of workers in a comprehensive program of child safety and child abuse awareness, prevention, and action. Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and laws.

    Responsible for securing preschool childcare for all church events.

    Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pastor.
