    Job Description

    Thank you for your interest in this position! The Children’s Ministry Pastor is the champion for our CrossPoint Kids (CPK) children’s ministry.  Your main priorities would be leading the CPK staff and creating/leading the 1-5 Grade age ministry.

    Position Title:  Children’s Ministry Pastor
    Reports To:  Student Ministries Pastor

    Purpose of position:  Lead the overall Children’s Ministry and the Elementary ministry in alignment with the CrossPoint Kids (CPK) mission and values of safety, relationships, application, partnership, and fun.

    Pastor of Children’s Ministry Responsibilities:

    • Lead, develop, and oversee the following paid staff:
      • Children’s Ministries Directors
      • Bridges Special Needs Ministry Director
      • Administrative Assistant
    • Drive and cast vision and mission for the Children’s Ministry
    • Lead and develop ministry to children and their families who are in 1-5 grade
    • Partner with other pastors in developing our interns and intern program
    • Have hands-on development of the Children’s Ministry
    • Develop volunteer staff and serving opportunities
    • Have a working knowledge of and support the Bridges (Special Needs) Ministry
    • Create and maintain resources and venues to assist, equip, and encourage parents
    • Attend “All Staff” meetings, pastoral staff meetings, and other church functions 

    Elementary Leadership Responsibilities:

    • Develop a team of dynamic volunteers to assist with the ministry:
      • Shepherd all Elementary Ministry volunteers
      • Pray for leaders and offer personal support and encouragement as needed
      • Monitor volunteers concerning spiritual growth and address issues as necessary
      • Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteers and create improvement plans, including exit strategies when necessary
      • Create and present training materials for volunteers
      • Recruit and place all volunteers in order to meet the needs of the ministry
      • Find replacements for volunteers in the event of their absence
      • Work within the volunteer system to ensure that serving is a positive experience
    • Oversee curriculum:
      • Evaluate the curriculum and develop the overall program to reach maximum effectiveness
      • Evaluate and communicate with teacher volunteers to ensure the best technique and implementation of the curriculum
    • Minister to families:
      • Be available to parents to discuss issues with children or ministry questions
      • Assist with discipline or special needs that arise while children are in our care
      • Communicate with parents as needed with flyers, letters, phone calls, etc.
    • Oversee policies and procedures:
      • Develop and enforce systems, policies, and procedures in line with the mission of CrossPoint and values of CPK
      • Oversee the overall CPK budget and develop the Elementary Ministry budget
    • Oversee facilities development:
    • Maintain a high standard of quality and tidiness in ministry environments in order to communicate a message of relevance, age-appropriateness, and excellence in all ministry areas
    • Work alongside the CPK team and other ministries to help develop elementary environments that further the mission of the church and the impact of the ministry
    • Oversee Elementary Ministry development:
    • Maintain a high standard of quality and relevancy in ministry philosophy in order to communicate a message of relevance, age-appropriateness, and excellence in all ministry areas
    • Work alongside the CPK team and other ministries to help develop an elementary ministry that furthers the mission of the church and the impact of the ministry

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Direct 3-5 Grade Summer Camp
    • Recruit and train staff, put together curriculum, activities, theme planning, promotion, etc.

    Team Responsibilities:

    • Assist with development and execution of CPK events as needed including:
      • Volunteer meetings
      • CPK Christmas (kids singing in services)/Oversee children’s choir director
      • Special kids Easter and Christmas programs
      • Promotion Sunday
      • Recruitment Sunday
      • Volunteer Appreciation Events
    • Lead weekly directors meeting
    • Work with rest of CPK staff to help evaluate and assist all programs as available
    • Facilitate Sunday morning prayer time

    Personal Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, being part of a small group, and regularly attending worship services
    • Be a member of CrossPoint Community Church and continually subscribe to the statement of faith
    • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church
    • Financially support the work and ministry of CrossPoint by faithfully giving at least 10% of income; maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%
    • Maintain proper priorities at home
    • Demonstrate good testimony in the community and strong emotional health
    • Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to CrossPoint mission, values, and leadership
    • Commit to making the ministry joyful
    • Demonstrate a positive attitude and poise under pressure
    • Work as part of a team
    • Demonstrate competency in handling the pressure of multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Be able to hear and know about difficult situations without being judgmental or emotionally involved
    • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
    • Be sensitive to the needs of people and provide a caring attitude
    • Continually improve in necessary skills and knowledge of the position
