Highway Christian Fellowship is seeking an individual for the position of Next Gen Pastor. Highway Christian Fellowship is a community of Jesus followers who desire to see lives changed in Sidney and the Peninsula of Vancouver Island. We are dedicated to reaching our community and leading people to become devoted followers of Jesus who Love God, Love Others and Serve their World. The Next Generation Pastor is accountable to the Lead Pastor & by extension the Church board of Deacons of Highway Christian Fellowship.
WHO YOU ARE: • A passionate follower of Jesus that loves connecting with people, is a person of integrity, has a teachable spirit and leads in humility and is patient, flexible and willing to listen to others. • You possess a servant’s heart that is willing to help above and beyond when needed. • A team player who is willing to work in collaboration with a team of servant leaders. • A clear communicator able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with individuals, and small or large groups. • Holds a doctrinal position which is compatible with the PAOC Statement of Fundamental & Essential Truths Possess organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills. • Able to work on your own Possess a valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: • Give leadership to our mid-week Junior youth ministry (Engage) & Sunday and midweek children’s ministry (Hope Club) • Find opportunities to reach and mentor Preteen & Youth outside of regular programming. • Participate in Sunday morning services which may include preaching on occasion. • Participate in a team-oriented environment, participating in weekly staff meetings and whole church outreach initiatives. • Demonstrate willingness to support team members when requested. • Help plan and lead summer outreach and ministry opportunities whether that be summer camps, VBS or youth missions trips. • Participate in local, District preteen/youth related conferences and summer camps. • Communicate and partner with parents for the spiritual growth of children & youth. • Ensure that Plan to Protect policies are up to date and being implemented. • Pursue learning and growth opportunities through reading, courses, conferences etc.
WHAT YOU BRING: • Formal Bible College/ Seminary training is preferred • Possess or are willing to obtain credentials with the PAOC • Experience in leading, directing and conducting teams. • Excellent interpersonal skills. This is a part time position (24 hours per week) Extended health benefits will be offered following 6 month probation.
