Qualifications:

The Worship Leader should meet the following personal and spiritual qualifications:

• Be able to express a personal salvation experience of faith in Jesus Christ
• Be able to express a “call” to serve God and His church in the particular capacity
• Meet qualifications as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
• A high level of motivation and personal accountability
• Follows the Biblical model of stewardship through tithing
• Must be in full agreement with the doctrine and teachings of the church
• A team player and a high energy level and committed to team playing and building

Purpose:

Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the supervision of the Lead Pastor and Elders, the purpose of the Worship Leader is to assist the body of Vertical Community Church in expressing our love for God through musical worship. The Worship Leader is called to lead the overall music program and to equip and shepherd the volunteer music and worship leaders of Vertical Community Church. To accomplish this, the Worship Leader is expected to guide, shape and support the worship planning and delivery process in alignment with our purpose and mission.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

1. Provide musical leadership for all worship services and special occasion services
2. Recruit, train and guide volunteer music leaders and participants in the various music groups
3. Oversee and coordinate visiting worship leaders, groups/artists
4. Oversee, shepherd, and grow the elements of the worship ministry
5. Work closely with the pastor and Creative Team to define the purpose/theme/direction for each service and development of the weekly order of worship
6. Direct the worship ministry teams in practices for Sunday mornings
7. Shepherd worship team members through regular devotional times, helping team members to evaluate their walk with God, and personal preparation for worship
8. Oversee recruiting of new members for the worship team
9. Focus on VC Worship recordings and VC Worship Album
10. Lead quarterly Worship nights
11. Assist in Worship for Prayer Nights
12. Develop an organizational system for keeping track of songs (planning center, etc.)
13. Be accountable to Lead Pastor and Elders
14. To perform other duties as assigned
