We are prayerfully searching for a godly man who will advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ among the students in grades 6-12 in our church and community.  While his primary responsibility will be to work with students, the man we hire will be given the title of Associate Pastor (AP).  The AP will raise up the next generation of leaders by connecting with this generation of students in our community.  In addition to working with students, we will provide opportunities for our AP to use his gifts, talents, education, experience, and skills for God’s glory in the church.  We want YOU to thrive and flourish in ministry today and prepare for whatever God has in store for YOUR future!  Our pastor longs to establish healthy relationships and life-giving community among our staff as well as regular opportunities for leaders to cultivate their spiritual gifts.

Primary Expectations…

1.    We expect our AP to personally invest time reading God’s Word and Praying for God’s Direction!

2.    We want him to invest time planning and prepping for the opportunities to pastor our students.

3.    Our AP should place a STRONG emphasis on developing healthy relationships with students and their families.

Other Expectations

• We want our AP to spend part of his time in the office but also building relationships with students outside of the office.
• We will provide a budget for him to cultivate relationships with students by attending their football, basketball, lacrosse, softball, and soccer games.  As well as other extracurricular activities.
• We will partner with our AP as he invests in students and their families.
• Risk Taking is Encouraged!  We expect our Associate Pastor to try new things to advance the Gospel.
• The AP will agree to minister according to the 2000 edition of the Baptist Faith and Message.
• He (and his wife and children if applicable) will reside in the Greater Blythewood Community in which he will minister.
• He (and his family) will be active members of the church.
• He will work according to the rhythms the ministry of the church, including those meetings and ministries that take place after normal office hours and on weekends.
• He must be willing to go out on mission locally, nationally, and internationally.
• The AP will typically work a 40-hour week Sunday through Thursday.   Friday and Saturday generally be days off except for church events.

Student Ministry…what about now?

Our student ministry has phenomenal potential to experience explosive growth, but our student ministry is on the rebound.  After 7 ½ years, our former student pastor resigned from Sandy Level to take another ministry position.  We still have 10-20 kids that participate in our Sunday Night or Midweek ministries.  We have a handful of wonderful volunteers and fantastic parents that help support our ministry to students.

The Student Ministry has dedicated space that will accommodate about 85 people, that includes a stage, sound booth, lighting, and multiple video monitors.  In addition, there is a Kitchen, Rec Room, and High School and Middle School Small Group Rooms.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a ministry related field.

Additional Education or certifications are welcomed but not required.

Experience

3-5 years ministry experience preferred but not required.

Skills

• Able to communicate the Gospel and teach God’s Word
• Capable of initiating and maintaining relationships with students and their families
• Proficient with technologies used to communicate with students and their families.
• Prepared to lead and ready to serve.
• Adept at organizing ministries, events, and programs for the student ministry of our Sandy Level Baptist Church

Character Traits

• We are searching for a man of integrity that is committed to the work of Advancing the Gospel among our students.
• The Associate Pastor should regularly spend time and prayer and reading God’s Word.
• He should deliberately apply the standards of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 to his personal circumstances, whether he is single or has a wife and children.

Salary

$40-50K

Compensation will be commensurate with the education and experience of the chosen candidate.

Vacation

The AP will have 2 Weeks of paid vacation in the first year of employment with the potential for increased vacation time in the future.
