Primary Purpose
The pastor, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, is responsible to the church for leading in the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for providing administrative leadership for the church and pastoral care in counseling and meeting the needs of people in the church and in the community.

Pastor’s relationship to the church:

• The pastor, as shepherd, shall be in charge of the welfare and supervision of the church.
• The pastor shall be an ex-officio member of all organizations, departments and committees, to help execute the church program.
• The pastor will be expected to attend deacon, church council, and nominating committee meetings.
• The pastor shall preside as church moderator at the business meeting.
• The pastor will assist the church council in organizing a church calendar.
• The pastor will be responsible for leading the church through a long-range plan for its ministry and growth. This is to include revivals and other special services.
• The pastor will be responsible for leading the church in sharing the gospel with the lost; to minister to the spiritual needs of the members of the congregation.
• Through prayer and study, he will render effective preaching and pastoral ministries, including ordinances of the church.
• The pastor shall recommend and advise on the selection of all church staff members, in the determination of their duties, and will be the supervisor of all other church employees.

The Pastor’s professional relationship:

• The normal work schedule for this position is not less than 40 hours per week.
• The pastor will have office hours for counseling and consultation on days and hours of his choice, but flexible to meet the needs of the church. He can be contacted anytime day or night as required.
• Additional outside employment is highly discouraged; however in extreme circumstances, any employment separate of Enon Baptist Church shall be reviewed and approved by the Deacons and approved by the
  church with secret ballot.
• The pastor will establish a relationship with the Catawba River Baptist Association, State, and Convention bodies. He will promote congenial relationships with other denominations and churches in the community and
  surrounding area.
• The pastor will be allowed time to prepare and study for his preaching and teaching ministry.
  The pastor will have an active visitation ministry including both members and prospects. This ministry is to include shut-ins, nursing home residents and hospital visitation.
• The pastor will support the deacons with a Family Ministry Program to provide training for church and Sunday School leadership.
• The pastor will teach a new member/converts class when needed.
• The pastor will promote and lead systematic and faithful evangelistic visitation, witness training for laymen, and developing methods of assimilating new members.
