    Job Description

    First Riverview is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor to oversee the student ministries of our church. The Student Pastor will have primary responsibility for students (middle and high school) and young adults, including oversight and development of directors and ministry teams, teaching and discipleship, volunteer recruitment, and administration. He must be a capable leader and communicator, who is able to teach when the lead pastor is away. This is a pastoral leadership position that requires an ability to shepherd and lead one or more ministry areas.

    • Provide direct pastoral leadership to the Student Ministry (middle school and high school), including teaching and discipleship, programming, special events, outreach, recruitment, etc.
    • Prepare and deliver messages for regular student activities and, as needed, for the Lead Pastor in weekly worship services
    • Help plan and oversee camps, retreats, and other events in cooperation with directors
    • Work with the lead pastor to provide resources and training for youth parents and families
    • Develop and define strategic goals for the student ministries in cooperation with directors and under the leadership of the lead pastor
    • Recruit, train, and empower area team members according to their gifting, ability, and interests in cooperation with directors
    • Provide and encourage ongoing education/training for directors and team members through external ministries, books, and conferences
    • Oversee child and student protection policies and practices and help maintain compliance
    • Develop and oversee annual budget in student areas with stewardship and excellence

    Requirements

    • A deep and abiding love for God that flows from a persistent devotion to God through prayer and Bible study and is clearly visible in life and ministry
    • Experience in pastoral ministry, preferably in a related area (children’s ministry, student ministry, or young adult ministry)
    • Relational skills to lead and serve on a team in a medium-sized church (400+ active attendance)
    • Strong ability to listen, motivate, cooperate with, and lead teams of both volunteers and paid staff
    • Capability in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships with the demonstrated ability to recruit team members
    • Skilled in related technology (MS Office, presentation software, etc.).
    • Undergraduate degree required (seminary training is preferred)
