    Job Description

    The Position
    We are seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our staff as the Director of Child Formation (“Director”) to oversee the spiritual formation of our children with a primary emphasis on children 0 up to middle school. The Director will report to the Rector and have a passion to set young hearts and minds afire with the mystery and wonder of God’s love while connecting them with the broader parish community, vision, and mission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Spending time in prayer and caring for one’s own spiritual formation,
    • Developing and implementing an integrated vision for Good Shepherd Kids in collaboration with the Rector and our child formation advisory board, while evaluating programs to ensure they are supporting the formation needs of our children and families.
    • Leading, teaching, and providing support during Sunday kids classes.
    • Provide discipleship resources to families (e.g., seasonal devotionals, activities, tools).
    • Ensuring Good Shepherd Kids runs smoothly on Sundays and at other special services.
    • Overseeing and implementing, as necessary, child safety procedures and policies, including
    administering mandated safe church training.
    • Recruiting, scheduling, training, and supporting volunteers for Sunday services and other special services and events,
    • Ensuring classrooms remain welcoming and organized.
    This position is 25-30 hours/week with a monthly comp of $3,000-3,750 based on experience.

    The Candidate
    The candidate must embody a love for Jesus and his mission and be excited to take on the multi-faceted challenge of working with young children and a young parish. Additionally, the role requires
    the individual to be trustworthy and dependable, a self-starter, and a team builder who enjoys
    organization (e.g., planning, coordinating, and training). A proven track record of establishing and
    leading a robust child formation program is a must. Other qualifications include:
    • Loves children and has a passion for their spiritual care and formation.
    • A warm, loving, Christ-like presence.
    • Flexible, calm, creative, organized, and patient.
    • Able to gather, inspire, and motivate volunteers.
    • Familiarity with the Anglican way
    • Understanding and comfort with child safety procedures and trainings
    • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd or Godly Play training is desirable.
    • Experience with Planning Center Online, a plus.
    • CPR certification, a plus.
