Midway Baptist is a medium-sized congregation (average of 300/Sunday morning worship) affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The Associate Pastor, Music and Worship Arts, will be an integral part of the three ministerial teams at the church. Midway Baptist follows a “blended” style of musical worship utilizing a traditional choir and praise band.

• This position is based on a divine call to the ministry and, as with any pastor, the role in the church is based on spiritual guidelines (2 Timothy; Titus)
• The Pastor of Worship oversees the media/worship/music ministry teams of the church by developing, coordinating, and administering Spirit-led musical worship including exceptional and engaging music and arts ministries
• He provides leadership and supervision of the programs, staff, volunteers, and equipment essential to these ministries
• In coordination with the Senior Pastor, he is responsible in meeting the spiritual needs of the congregation and community
• Consult and coordinate with the senior pastor in establishing distinctively styled Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services, special events, and programs including musical selections appropriate in theme and nature
• Lead and direct the musical worship at regular and special services, utilizing a traditional choir and praise band
• Institute and oversee adult, student, and children’s programs such as choir, praise team and praise band through recruitment, rehearsals, musical training, and spiritual nurturing that support the mission and worship activities of the church
• Recognize and enlist talents within the church to participate in the music ministry
• Oversee the development of “artistic expressions of worship,” including drama, as a regular part of worship
• Schedule and direct vocalists, instrumentalists, volunteers, and sound technicians involved with the worship and music ministries
• Oversee the use and maintenance of sound, lighting and worship related equipment and instruments
• Select and purchase all needed music supplies, equipment and instruments, as well as all related resources in the music and worship department
• Duties and responsibilities other than those stated herein may be assigned by the Senior Pastor or Personnel Committee
