    Compensation:     Salaried Position $38,000 to $42,000                                                                                                       Salary Commensurate with Education, Experience, Diocesan Guidelines                                                 Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, 401K, paid vacation

    Position Summary:

We seek a leader for children, youth, and families to lead formation, events, and programs. This individual will have responsibility for Christian formation for children from preschool through grade 12 and lead an energetic and creative program for youth in grades 6 through 12. This person will be an integral part of all ministries and programs, engaging all members within our parish and the surrounding community. He/she will build and strengthen relationships and friendships, promote love, kindness and extend the love of Christ to the world and always remember the Gospel of Jesus Christ is really good news, all the time, for everyone.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop, coordinate and lead a balanced youth program that engages youth, creating opportunities for spiritual growth, connection, fun, fellowship, mission, and service for middle school and high school students
    • Create caring and compassionate relationships and a welcoming community for children, youth and families within our parish and the community beyond based on the joys and traditions of Christianity and our Episcopal heritage
    • Serve as a spiritual leader, role model and mentor, supporting the spiritual formation and overall well-being of children and youth
    • Build relationships with parents and other adult parishioners to recruit and develop a committed network of volunteers
    • Develop, coordinate, and lead innovative and inviting class offerings, activities, experiences and community building events for our parish and beyond – grounded in our Christian faith
    • Organize classrooms, materials, and activities to maximize learning, creativity, spiritual growth, cleanliness, and safety
    • Engage parents in the spiritual formation of children and youth
    • Communicate in a timely and effective manner, using all available communication resources (email, social media, website, church Facebook page, bulletins, church newsletter, speaking at church services, etc.) the details of programs, activities and youth events in the parish and diocese, incorporating event registration details, volunteer needs, program successes, etc.
    • Collaborate and coordinate activities with the Rector, staff, children, youth, parents, volunteers, and other church ministries and groups
    • Prepare and steward the youth ministry budget, keep records of expenditures and attendance
    • Contribute a monthly article for the newsletter and status reports as requested
    • Provide a year-end summary for the church’s Annual Report
    • Maintain a healthy balance of personal spiritual formation, self-care, and ministry

    Qualifications

    • Education: bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in youth ministry, Christian education or similar experience
    • Exhibit high integrity, sound judgement, ability to handle challenging situations, with quick decision-making, grace under pressure, and a good sense of humor
    • Outstanding leadership and relationship skills for educating, inspiring, and empowering young people, parents and volunteers
    • Problem solving, conflict resolution, computer skills, strong verbal and written skills,
    • Knowledge of the Bible
    • Demonstrated commitment in working with young people, parents, and volunteers in a high-energy and dynamic environment
    • Must possess strong organizational, leadership and group management skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with exceptional ability to communicate and build relationships with youth and teens, as well as with lay leaders, parents, and other stakeholders
    • Excellent project management, program planning, implementation, and administrative skills
    • Understanding of and ability to work within a defined budget
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a “team player” with other staff and volunteers
    • Ability to utilize computer expertise, various software programs, websites, social media, e-blasts, and other modes of communications to promote and administer programming
    • Required to complete Safe Church Training and other training materials
    • Must pass a background check.
    • Must have good driving record, dependable personal transportation and insurance
    • References required
