    Job Overview

    The Director of Music is responsible for facilitating and leading the music portion of empowered corporate worship at Trinity City Church. The music teams facilitate musical worship such that the main instrument is congregational singing. The music teams strive for excellence in music performance; not for entertainment purposes, but to avoid distraction in pursuit of the ultimate purpose of directing the praise of the congregation to Jesus Christ.

    Job Description

    Duties & Responsibilities 

    1. Integrates the mission of Trinity City Church into a theology of corporate worship through music under the direction of the Elder Council.
    2. Attends and participates in the Diaconate.
    3. Directs and is accountable for the music ministry for any church gathering, but in particular the Sunday Gatherings, by selecting and planning music in cooperation with other music team leaders and Pastor Bryan.
    4. Leads a music team forty out of fifty-two Sundays of the year. Ensures backup for every music leader assigned to lead a service.
    5. Actively recruits appropriate levels of talent and trains new members for the music ministry.
    6. Ensure appropriate rehearsals are conducted for services.
    7. Checks in and cares for music team members and leaders.
    8. Provides leadership in areas related to music, such as maintaining musical instruments, establishing music teams, coordinating gatherings and schedules of music teams, etc.
    9. Assures TCC is compliant with applicable copyright permissions and laws as related to music.
    10. Researches, selects, and charts out new songs while ensuring song selection is aligned with scripture and TCC’s mission.
    11. Keeps up to date on current developments of corporate worship both in music, liturgy and leadership.
    12. Oversees the Audio-Visual team.
    13. Cultivates/mentors/leads designated music leaders to develop their leadership capabilities and ensure their alignment to TCC’s theology of worship and strategy for music.
    14. Ensures the overall music style, sound and strategy are in line with TCC culture and environment per feedback from Pastor Bryan, the Elder Council, and a team of peers.
    15. May coordinate prayer and worship gatherings outside of Sunday service.

    Requirements & Qualifications  

    1. Must have demonstrable skill and experience as a musician and vocalist.
    2. Possesses the qualifications of a deacon (1 Timothy 3:8-10). This staff person must go through and complete the process to become a deacon once hired including Covenant Membership.
    3. Affirms the EFCA Statement of Faith.
    4. Demonstrates honesty, trustworthiness, patience, adaptability, and high standards of confidentiality in one’s work.
    5. Ability to work with and support the volunteers, members, and staff at Trinity City Church.
    6. Is proficient in applying theological principles to corporate worship.
    7. Has an understanding of the musical, theological, and pastoral judgments that must be made in selecting music for the gatherings.
    8. Ability to communicate with a variety of people and manage multiple projects.
    9. Comfortable in an environment that is regularly in flux.
    10. Skilled at or able to learn Google Workplace products and Planning Center.
