Position Description: Campus Minister
Position Opening: Fall 2023
Time Commitment: 25 hrs/week
Position Summary: Responsible for facilitating spiritual development, campus outreach, and
programming to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) as well as supporting clergy and formation staff.
Responsible to: Director of Formation and Associate Rector
Responsibilities: To work with the Director of Formation and other formation staff to: • Provide vision and coordination for Grace and Holy Trinity Campus Ministry to VCU. • Initiate and nurture relationships with VCU students, invite them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and motivate and equip others to do the same.
• Provide appropriate pastoral care to VCU students and the university community. • Nurture a climate of inclusivity and hospitality at GHTC towards all VCU students. • Commit 25 hours per week to Campus Ministry, to include, but not limited to, the following activities:
o Be on-site and available to students for weekly Sunday night ministry (study hall, worship and supper).
o Develop and manage a team of volunteers from the parish to staff Sunday night ministry.
o Work with Director of Formation to manage Campus Ministry communications (email/social media/electronic communication).
o Participate each semester in special events with students (e.g. VCU Basketball game, RVA PRIDE).
o Foster ecumenical relationships with other ministries or organizations on campus and in the community, including neighboring Episcopal churches, and especially the PACE Center.
o Network regularly with other Diocesan Campus Ministers.
o Be present at Annual Convention of the Diocese of Virginia and recruit students to serve as delegates.
o With the Director of Formation, manage Diocesan grant application process o Develop and manage a budget for the campus ministry, with the assistance of the Director of Formation and formation staff.
o Meet regularly with the Director of Formation, seeking collaboration and assistance with planning and overall vision and mission direction for the ministry. o Participate in professional development opportunities, for which purpose Grace & Holy Trinity will provide a $1,000 stipend.
Minimum Qualifications
– 1 year experience
– Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills
– Commitment to discipleship
Preferred Qualifications
– 3 years experience
– Certification or training in Clinical Pastoral Education
Compensation: $32,500/yr
