    Job Description

    PRINCIPAL FUNCTION
    The Next Gen Pastor is responsible for developing, implementing, promoting, and leading a comprehensive ministry designed to disciple and strengthen a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ in children, students, and their families. This position provides both hands-on ministry, as well as the development of leadership within each ministry (Student and Children’s). Working together with ministry leadership they will dream and cast vision for their respected ministry (Student and Children’s). The position will oversee and develop Student/Children’s Sunday School and Discipleship (mid-week) programs, worship activities, and special events to spiritually develop the children, students, and families of the church, attract new families, and engage the church in greater outreach to our community. They will work closely with and be accountable to the Lead Pastor.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry (1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
    • Called to ministry with a passion for children and students.
    • Married to a like-minded wife and committed to marriage and family.
    •  Gifted Bible teacher.
    • Passionate about Discipleship and Missions.
    • Possesses and demonstrates strong people, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Experience managing staff and/or servant teams and developing leaders and servants.
    • Disciplined in the use of social media platforms.

    EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years full-time ministry experience, preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, required.
    • Master’s degree from a like-minded evangelical seminary, preferred.
    • Affirms the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message (https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000/), required
    • Ordained, preferred.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Properly maintain your personal walk with the Lord through Bible study, prayer, and accountability.\
    • Develop and implement a vision for the Next Generation, Students (6th-12th) and Children (birth – 5th grade), discipleship in conjunction with the Lead Pastor, and the overall Mission, Core Values, and Vision at FBC Friendsville. Including but not limited to:
    • Plan and provide leadership and discipleship for Student and Children’s activities such as church camps, VBS, D-Now weekends, mission trips, Summer Camp, retreats, activities, etc.
    • Provide training for parents/guardians to help strengthen and equip them to evangelize and disciple their students and children.
    • Recruit, vet, lead, equip, develop, support, celebrate, and mobilize student/children’s leaders/volunteers to create and maintain an effective ministry team.
    • Establish and maintain a church presence in our community and local schools.
    • Teach weekly in Student Ministry (Sunday School and midweek), Sunday morning in KidsKlub (children’s church during pastor’s sermon), and as opportunity permits in Sunday morning worship. (This individual is not responsible for the Children’s Wednesday night AWANA program).
    • Supervise the social media presence/development for the FBC Friendsville Student and Children’s ministry.
    • Develop vision-specific annual budgets and ministry calendars for Students and Children’s that effectively prioritize discipleship fulfillment over attractional activity.
    • Be prepared to refer students/children and their families to professional counselors when such needs dictate.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Meet regularly with the pastor, staff, and appropriate church leadership for planning, evaluating, and coordinating the church ministries.
    • Work with the church leadership, staff, and congregation to achieve the overall vision of the church.
    • Serve as an active staff member, participating in staff meetings, congregational ministry, pastoral care, and gospel community within the Body.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development.
    •  Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
