    Job Description

    Living Word Assembly of God Church (LWAG) in Toronto, Ontario is looking for a part-time Youth Pastor, 15 – 20 hours per week. The Youth Pastor has the responsibility of overseeing the ministry of youth within ages 13 to15 (Juniors) and 16 to18 (Seniors). This role includes, but is not limited to overall responsibility for the planning, organizing and execution of curricula, program and activities. This individual must demonstrate the capability of forming strong relationships with youth.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    A. Give testimony and life witness of… (1) Being a committed believer in Jesus Christ (2) having spiritual gifts relevant to leadership of this ministry
    B. Graduate from a pastoral recognized Bible College and have attained a minimum level of ministry experience appropriate and relevant to the area of responsibility and a continuous desire to be learning in order to become a more effective leader.
    C. Have a sound knowledge of Scripture, teachable, and an ability to teach effectively and apply Scriptural principles in all areas of ministry.
    D. Be a stable, mature, and growing Christian with an exemplary personal, marital (if applicable) and family life.
    E. Ability to form strong relationships with youth and work successfully with them; be committed to growing LWAG Youth Ministry within the community of Living Word AG and outside.
    F. Equipped with strong organizational and administrative abilities, able to work individually, and as part of a team to maximize spiritual and numerical growth.
    G. Possess strong youth relational skills and knowledge of youth culture; have a deep love for youth / young adults and a passion to see them connect with God and each other. Must understand and be acquainted with the Ghanaian/African culture with at least a basic understanding of the local language.
    H. Be in agreement with the doctrinal position of Living Word Assembly of God Church, an affiliate of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. If not already ordained, begin the process of licensing and ordination by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
    I. Current Criminal Records Check available upon request and Minimum Class G driver’s license and ownership of a reliable vehicle for ministry-related travel/errands.
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    A. Provide leadership and oversight to the spiritual formation of youth through Sunday School, Friday night Services, camps, off-site activities, retreats, outreach, recreation, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism, and other such programs.
    1. Cast Vision—plan strategically and promote a church-wide vision of reaching and developing youth; committed to being thoroughly familiar with the culture and traditions of the LWAG youth constituency; develop a vision that will enable people to reach the youth segment of our city with the gospel.
    2. Implement Strategy—promote a strategy for faith promotion that encourages youth to worship God, learn and obey His Word, win others to Christ, and serve within the body.
    3. Provide Leadership—oversee, recruit, train, equip, support, and develop the skills of volunteer leaders and sponsors to accomplish the vision in providing shepherd-type leadership, facilitate an environment where youth can excel spiritually, emotionally and physically.
    4. Maintain personal participation and develop relationships with youth; visit, counsel and make meaningful contact with those who are sick or noticeably absent.
    5. Teach— facilitate the growth of all youth in understanding their faith; provide teaching / coaching on biblical and social issues that relate to youth in their contexts; committed to engender a ‘Christian world-view.’
    • Oversee curriculum selection, room use and program equipment selection.
    • Oversee internship ministry program (Where Applicable).
    6. Plan and Organize—develop and implement all activities related to youth ministry; maintain up-to-date records on such matters as attendance, sponsors, and the like.
    7. Evaluate—
    • Work with the Lead Pastor to establish and evaluate philosophy, standards, and procedures.
    • Work with the pastoral team and volunteers to regularly evaluate the ministry effectiveness in spiritual formation.
    B. Coordinate with other members of church staff, especially those giving leadership to Children and Young Adult (C.R.E.W.) ministries.
    C. Capably propose, administrate and ensure compliance with the financial budget and other administrative details inherent in program leadership.
    D. Participate / cooperate with ministries outside the context of the church as appropriate, with the approval of the Lead Pastor.
    E. Fulfill other pastoral duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor (e.g., Weddings, funerals, counseling, teaching, visitation, baptism, communion).
    8. Accountability. Organize parent/youth meetings and prepare parent newsletter (periodic frequency), re-enforcing the spiritual direction of and updating the status of The Youth Ministry
    9. Budget. Develop an annual budget, for presentation to the Board in support of The Youth Ministry Plan. Set fundraising goals and engage the youths in fundraising activities to reach stated goals
    10. Evangelism. Mobilize and motivate the youth to engage in planned evangelism activities
    ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:
    A. Reporting and evaluation- Accountable to, and supervised by the Lead Pastor.
    B. Supervision- Develop, coordinate, supervise and teach leadership teams.
    C. Coordination- Develop, coordinate youth ministry with the overarching vision, mission and purpose of LWAG Church.
    D. Board and Committees- Attend board meetings and participate on committees as assigned.
    E. The Youth Pastor will participate as a full and active member of the Pastoral Leadership Team.
