    Job Description

    Staff Relationship: Minister of Music will report and be responsible to the Senior Pastor.

    Hillcrest Baptist Church Dyersburg is searching for a Bi-vocational Minister of Music to lead the church’s worship services that would bring honor and glory to our heavenly father by providing a biblical, God honoring experience.

    Qualifications:

    • Candidate must be a born-again, practicing Christian and a Southern Baptist.
    • The successful candidate must join and become a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church Dyersburg.
    • Must feel spiritually led to the music ministry.
    • A working comprehensive knowledge of music, including sight reading is important to the role.
    • Some form of formal training or previous leadership in music is preferred but not required.
    • Ability to play at least one musical instrument.
    • Must have strong communication, interpersonal and basic administrative/organization skills.
    • Prior experience in leading/conducting choral music groups.
    • Must have a working knowledge of many forms of Christian worship music, including hymns, gospel and contemporary praise music.
    • Qualifying candidates must live within a 40-50-mile radius of the church.

    Role and responsibilities:

    • Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, instrumentalists, vocalist, choir, and tech team to ensure that all worship services are organized and executed in a seamless, harmonious manner. Weekly services consist in Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night service.
    • Plan, implement and evaluate the worship services, with a focus on providing a biblical, God honoring experience.
    • Lead a worship service that incorporates both contemporary and traditional music that is blended together and complements each other.
    • Coordinate and lead weekly choir practice.
    • Plan and coordinate with soloist and instrumentalist special music events.
    • Collaborate with media and tech volunteers on sound, lighting and visual aids including outline of order of service, musical lineup and lyrics.
    • Enlist and coordinate volunteers to lead youth and children’s choirs.
    • Plan, coordinate and produce special holiday productions.
    • Organize and maintain the music library.
    • Participate with the church staff in outreach opportunities in the community.
    • Attend staff meetings.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Schedule and Salary:

    The targeted time required to fulfill this part-time role is 24-26 hours per week. As a part-time role this position does not offer any health or other benefits. The goal is for this position to naturally grow into a full time roll as the church grows. The salary range is $20,000 – $27,000 based on experience, skill and availability of the candidate.
