Summary of Ministry
The student ministry pastor will work closely with the pastoral team to stay on mission and equip all generations to become disciple-making disciples of Jesus Christ. The assistant pastor of student ministries will oversee discipleship for students in grades six to twelve in and through a vibrant and
flourishing student ministry. Calvary youth have an incredible potential for continued spiritual growth and creative ministry as we enter an exciting season as a church family.
Primary Responsibilities
• To be an active disciple of Jesus Christ in every area of life (personally, family, pastorally, community, and financially).
• Assist the Lead Pastor in developing a clear path of discipleship for young people in grades 6 through high school which will integrate into the discipleship process of Calvary Church.
• Develop opportunities to reach unchurched students to experience community and connect them to Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
• Be active and present in the local community to build networks and be a resource where possible to students and their families.
• Provide pastoral care for families with students grades 6 & up, as needed in partnership with the Family Ministries Pastor and Pastoral Care team.
• Continually recruit and develop congregants to serve in student ministries as a part of the leadership development strategy of Calvary.
• Work alongside the Children’s Ministries Pastor to ensure the proper transition of those moving from children’s ministry to student ministry.
• Work alongside the Pastoral team to ensure the proper transition of those moving from student ministry into young adult ministry
. Oversee and equip volunteers giving leadership to young adults (graduates of high school going into post-secondary schooling or a career) and assist in integrating them into the life of the church and discipleship process at Calvary
• Ensure proper management of the funds of Calvary Church as designated to your authority.
• Adhere to Calvary Church Policies as regulated by the Board of Deacons.
• Train and develop as needed through reading, conferences, higher education, peer mentorship, etc. as funds permit.
• Participate in all staff meetings, training, and retreats scheduled by the Lead Pastor to benefit building team and vision planning.
Secondary Responsibilities
• Have occasional missions experiences as funds permit.
• Serve in areas outside of Calvary Church (Community, Eastern Ontario District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, Master’s College and Seminary, etc.) as permitted by the Lead Pastor.
• Communicate in a weekend celebration service as asked by the Lead Pastor.
• Conduct funerals and weddings as permitted by the Lead Pastor.
Required Skills
• Credentials with the PAOC
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with students in ministry
• Self-motivation and independent working skills
• Teaching and good Communication skills
• Highly intentional and proven experience in Making Disciples
• Ability to develop teams and leaders of teams
• Strategic and Creative
Education Required : Bible College Graduation
Experience Required : Min. 3 years
