    Job Description

    Purpose: Helping WPA move forward a vision of creating theological, spiritual, and missionally vital people by leading, developing, and managing all areas related to worship and creative arts.

    Responsibilities

    Worship:

    · Lead times of corporate worship with a scripture-guided, Christ-exalting and Spirit-led approach

    · Collaborate with the Lead Pastor in planning all services, especially seasonal services (Easter & Christmas), with creative arts components that enhance communications and experience

    · Oversee the worship experience of the congregation by blending different worship styles (new contemporary songs, familiar choruses, modern hymns)

    · Learn and introduce global worship songs to the congregation to connect us with the global church and best serve a multi-ethnic congregation

    · Encourage the operation of the gifts of the Spirit with order in worship

    · Give direction to alternative corporate worship events like Generation Services (quarterly) and Worship Nights (semi-annually)

    · Establish and mentor lay leaders for the core areas of the music department (worship leaders, band directors, service directors, tech team)

    · Provide pastoral care to members of the worship ministry and congregation as needed

    · Oversee the recruiting process for worship team members (instrumental and vocal) by evaluating their musical aptitude and skill

    · Provide musical support and training that will assist the development of skills and overall craft

    · Oversee the technical team (sound, media, lighting) and provide ongoing training on all technical-related equipment

    · Accountable for the purchases, maintenance and repair of all musical, sound, lighting and media equipment within policy guidelines

    · Collaborate with other ministries to ensure their musical and technical needs are met and ensure that equipment is being operated by trained personnel

    · Assemble a choir occasionally throughout the year to create a fuller sound

    Staff & Vision:

    · Approach ministry with a teachable spirit and collaborative mindset

    · Attend and contribute to weekly staff meetings

    · Model a theologically, spiritually and missionally vital lifestyle to the congregation

    · Lead bible engagement initiatives that lead towards theological vitality in conjunction with the Lead Pastor

    · Be under the direction of and demonstrate a sense of loyalty to the Lead Pastor by fully supporting his ministry

    Education & Experience:

    · A theological education from an accredited bible college or seminary

    · Five to ten years of ministry in mid-size to large congregations

    Other:

    ● Be familiar with and adhere to the policies and procedures of WPA.

    ● To be responsible for the implementation of the Statement of Purpose to his/her departments.

    ● Understand the need for confidentiality and integrity due to the nature of work.

    ● Be accountable to the Pastor and Board for the financial income and expenditures

    ● Prepare an annual projected budget for his/her department

    ● Adhere to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act by:

    o Taking reasonable care of your health and safety

    o Take responsible care for the health and safety of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions

    o Cooperate with anything the employer (WPA) does to comply with OHS requirements.

    o Adhere to WPA’s Policy 3 Health & Safety
