    Job Description

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    Plan, administer, coordinate, supervise and evaluate a comprehensive and active program for students in sixth through twelfth grade.  Also responsible for assisting the church program organization in planning, conducting and evaluating comprehensive educational programs and providing leadership to college/career students.

    • To provide Bible study for students & college/career students during the Sunday morning time. This would include planning for space, approval of curriculum and other resources to be used and the recruitment and training of Life Group & Small Group workers.
    • To provide for the Wednesday night programming which involves approximately 1-1/2 hours. This time is spent in spiritual growth activities such as singing, sharing, creative games and activities.  This time includes a devotional message or Bible study.
    • To provide for small group weekday Bible studies which is a volunteer program that usually runs fall, winter and spring. Here the emphasis is on a more intense discipling of students toward maturity.
    • To plan and provide activities and outings to meet their social needs. It is important that the Pastor of Student Ministry has sufficient workers to help supervise these social activities.
    • Direct the planning, coordination, conducting and evaluation of students & college/career students sport activities in the church.
    • Enlist and train leadership for university ministry.
    • To plan and provide mission opportunities to instruct them on the value of community service and enable them to find a place to serve.
    • In conjunction with the custodial staff, help maintain and coordinate needs for student & college/career students facilities including cleaning, maintenance, updates, and repairs.
    • Coordinate and support the praise band as it relates to leading worship services, special appearances at other functions, and opportunities to assist in Sunday worship.
    • Plan and coordinate some annual trips, such as Passion, camps, fall retreat, and summer mission projects.
    • Advise in the use of program materials, equipment, supplies, and space by students & college/career students in all church program organizations.
    • It is understood that a great deal of time will be spent with students & college/career students on a one-to-one basis, building relationships, strengthening self-esteem and encouraging students to really become established as Christian believers.
    • To make calls on students when they are in a hospital or in other primary moments of their lives. Outreach to new students through home calls and campus contacts (such as at school lunch or after school contacts).
    • Work with program leaders, teachers and appropriate staff members to resolve philosophical,
      procedural, and scheduling problems in the student division.
    • In consultation with Student & College/Career Students Ministry Team, prepare an annual budget for recommendation to the Budget Planning Committee.

    PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation.
    • Maintain proper priorities in your home and be a spiritual leader to your spouse and children, if married.
    • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
    • Financially support the work of ministries of Second Baptist Church by faithfully giving at least 10% of your gross income.  Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Cooperate with the Senior Pastor and other staff members in promoting the entire ministry plan of Second Baptist Church.
    • Be available for counseling of church and non-church members as needs arise.
    • Utilize the services of the secretarial and facilities staff, which are consistent with their Position Descriptions.
    • Supply articles on a periodical basis for use in Second Baptist Church publications relating to your responsible area of ministry.
    • Give full support to the General Operating Budget of Second Baptist Church and avoid soliciting or expending funds not previously authorized.
    • Serve as an effective staff liaison to assigned Ministry Teams and/or Standing Committees.
    • Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in Second Baptist Church’s Bylaws and Policies and Procedures Manual.
