    Job Description

    I. Position Summary
    Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) is a growing church of over 700 members located in the western center of the Houston metropolitan area. We are a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). As a church, we are known for having a strong emphasis on reformed theology, rich worship, warm fellowship, and faithful expository preaching.

    The Young Adults Ministry Pastor/Director oversees a ministry serving young adults in their 20s and 30s (single and married without children) and college students to enfold them into the life of our church and grow in their love for Christ, His Word, and His Church through the ordinary means of grace.

    Our goal is to greatly improve our effectiveness in ministering to young adults in their 20s – 30s (single and married without children) and college students.

    II. Position Requirements
    Education / Experience: College graduate; MDiv Seminary degree preferred; ordained in the PCA or willingness to be ordained; previous experience working with college students and young adults.
    Knowledge: Understanding of Biblical and reformed theology; knowledge of ministry young adults; well informed about the current culture and issues; an understanding of management principles for staff and ministries; financial principles for budgeting.
    Skills: Strong leader; relational; gifted teacher and communicator to adults; management; computer; ability to relate well to and form effective relationships with young adults; ability to develop and implement a strategic, sustainable plan and ministry; team player.

    Time Commitment: 40-50 hours per week

    Special Talents, Skills Preferred: Recruitment, leadership, equipping, delegating, organization,
    administration, developing and maintaining effective relationships with young adults.

    Resources and Training Provided: Time and budget for ongoing continuing education opportunities and training.

    Description and Responsibilities:
    1. Will have the following characteristics:

    2. Has a passion for responsibly and relevantly communicating God’s Word to college students and young adults. This passion should be evident in fruitfulness in evangelism and discipleship in previous ministry experiences which should translate to the work here.

    3. Has strong gifts in the areas of teaching, evangelism, spiritual formation (discipleship) and has an entrepreneurial mindset with a strong work ethic.

    4. Shall continue to develop and grow a Gospel-centered, spiritually maturing, community of college students and young adults within the sphere of our church.

    5. Is willing and even excited to make himself available to develop friendship and community with young adults and college students when they are available (e.g., early mornings before classes/work, evenings after classes/work, Sunday lunches after church, etc.)

    6. Is the lead teacher for a weekly Sunday morning class for young adults and college students.

    7. Plans, coordinates, and executes ministry events and retreats aimed at nurturing Christian fellowship and discipleship among CPC’s young adults and college students. There will also be the opportunity to assist with planning, coordinating, and executing churchwide ministry events and retreats (e.g., Mo Ranch, Men’s Retreat, Mission’s Weekend, etc.)

    8. Leads and coordinates CPC’s City Group ministry – CPC’s small group ministry. This includes writing sermon reflection guides from Labor Day to Memorial Day, recruiting and training leaders, and recruiting and assimilating new members into City Groups.

    9. Works with and supports other ministry staff on an ad hoc basis as required, which includes identifying and helping to realize synergies between Young Adults ministry and other CPC ministries.

    10. Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings and other staff administrative responsibilities.

    11. Reports directly to the Executive Director.
