    Job Description

    Overview
    Westminster PCA is home to several vibrant, traditional music programs that seek to lead and aid
    our congregation in worshiping and glorifying God with joyful reverence. The Director of Music will
    provide vision, leadership, and organization for all WPC music programs including Sunday morning
    worship and seasonal events. Core responsibilities include rehearsing and directing the choir and
    handbells, planning special programs, and assisting in planning for worship services. In addition, the
    Director of Music supervises music staff, manages the music budget and resources, and oversees
    operation functions of music-related equipment and facilities.

    Qualifications
    • Authentic and mature follower of Jesus Christ
    • Demonstrated music ministry leadership skills and competence
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Music; Master’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred
    • Minimum of five years’ experience directing church choirs
    • Experience directing handbells and instrumental ensembles desirable
    • Embraces Reformed Theology, the theology of the PCA
    • Responsible, dependable, self-disciplined, self-motivated and creative
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
    • Humility of spirit and a genuine desire to glorify God and serve and encourage others

    Primary Duties
    MUSIC and WORSHIP
    • Lead and direct the Chancel Choir (adult) in weekly rehearsals and worship services
    • Lead and direct the Chapel Choir (youth), including communicating with singers and parents throughout the year
    • Lead and direct the Westminster Ringers (adult handbells)
    • Plan, schedule and arrange additional music and musicians for worship services (preludes, offertories, etc.) as needed or appropriate
    • Plan traditional programs/services such as Christmas Eve, Young Voices at Christmas, Palm Sunday evening, Easter and other special programs
    • Resource and support directors for other ensembles such as children’s choir and the string chamber orchestra

    ADMINISTRATION and LEADERSHIP
    • A willing and active member in the life and ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church
    • Evidence sound theology and spiritual maturity with gracious temperament
    • Create and act on a vision of musical excellence and growth
    • Thoughtful selection of music for worship services, special programs and other needs
    • Identify, recruit, equip, train, encourage and shepherd music team leaders, choir members, other musicians, and support staff
    • Keep and coordinate a maintenance schedule for the organ and pianos
    • Maintain and manage a rotation list for Sunday evening piano accompanists
    • Attend and constructively participate in weekly church staff meetings and effectively communicate music related events and plans with staff and appropriate groups and individuals
    • Manage and maintain the music library
    • Diligently maintain and develop personal musical knowledge, skills, and competence
    • Work with the Finance Committee to create an annual music budget
    • Assist as needed in wedding and/or funeral services and music planning

    Salary and Related Benefits: Commensurate with responsibilities and experience

    Hours: Sunday mornings and afternoons (Chapel Choir rehearsals), Wednesday mornings (WPC staff
    meetings) and evenings (Chancel Choir and Westminster Ringers rehearsals), and flexible weekday
    office hours
