    Job Description

    Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church
    in Youngstown, OH, is searching for their next Director of Youth and Family Ministries.
    The Youth Director position should be filled by a male of integrity and maturity who can lead and
    guide our church’s middle and high school students (grades 6-12). Supervised by the pastor, under
    the authority of the session, this person will strive to build relationships with the youth and their
    families, encourage students to grow an interest in their knowledge of God, and support them to
    develop their love for Him and others. The Youth Director should attend student functions, develop
    relationships with the education community, and provide students and their families with support,
    biblical wisdom, and prayer.
    To be successful in this position, the Youth Director will need to provide students with a place to
    belong that gives them the courage to be resilient to unhealthy peer pressure. Ideal candidates
    should have a proficient understanding of the challenges young people face and can express
    compassion towards these challenges.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Praying for the ministry.
    • Attending and participating in staff meetings.
    • Attending Sunday School and all worship services.
    • Keeping regular office hours
    • Intentionally engaging in a process of continual learning and personal and professional growth.
    • Overseeing, growing, and coordinating the church’s youth ministry.
    • Designing, overseeing, and examining curricula for all programs, events, and classes. (Seeking Elder wisdom and approval for all teaching materials prior to use.)
    • Leading middle and high school students to encourage their spiritual growth.
    • Interacting with students during all church events and public events.
    • Developing positive relationships with students and their parents.
    • Sharing program plans through direct in person communication, fliers, students’ mobile numbers, and social media.
    • Displaying a Christ-like approach and lifestyle and praying regularly for young people in the church and community.
    • Planning and coordinating events at the church for youth, as well as local service projects for the
    youth to be involved in.
    • Incorporating youth into the various existing church ministries for His use.
    • Growing students in the knowledge of God and His Word.
    • Connecting with local schools and community organizations.
    • Keeping appropriate records
    • Other tasks as assigned by the senior pastor or session.

    Job Skills & Qualifications
    • Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Ability to teach God’s Word and present the gospel to young people in a clear and concise way.
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Knowledge of and agreement with Presbyterian and Reformed theology.
    • Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of young people.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organization skills.
    • Ability to lead by example.
    • Available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
    • Fully capable of managing a budget.
    • Great at relationship building with students, their families, fellow church members and church staff.
    • Ability to create safe and welcoming environments.
    • Capable of building a leadership team of adult volunteers.
    • A desire to connect the youth ministry with the whole church.
    • Ability to submit to appropriate authority and oversight.
    • Ability to identify and train youth with leadership abilities.

    Preferred
    • Youth ministry experience
    • Experience providing engaging methods of teaching to keep students curios and interested in
    learning.
