    Job Description

    Ministry Internship in the Florida Keys. Shared housing accommodation and stipend included. This is a great church to gain active experience in a church revitalization.

    Internship Overview:
    -Hands on training in the church with real people with real needs. -Opportunities to use your gifts and have them cultivated weekly. -Time of sharpening with the pastor weekly.
    -Weekly goals to hit and personal challenges to meet.
    -Gaining the on the job training that isn’t available in a classroom.

    *Benefits*
    -Free housing and utilities for the entirety of your internship. Includes a 1bd(Private) shared kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.
    -A chance to develop a self-starter ministry that will build your resume and confidence in your methods and strategies.
    -A monthly stipend of $500 plus $25 a month for books/training materials. -Being first up on the bench to the pastor and having weekly opportunities to speak, preach, serve, etc.

    Objectives:

    – Train God-called men and women in the areas of biblically approved ministry.
    – Provide opportunities to develop the gifts God has given you through reading, writing, journaling, sharing of testimony, and teaching.
    – Development of skills that are essential to the ministry and give an avenue of opportunity to use them in small groups and corporate settings. – Give the young minister the tools necessary to enhance and grow the ministry of Sugarloaf Baptist Church.

    Requirements:

    – Must have a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
    – Must Plan to be faithful in attendance 90% or greater of the time.
    – Must have completed High School and possess a diploma.
    – Must have reliable transportation.
    – Must dedicate an amount of weekly hours determined by intern and Pastor.
    – Must understand that this is a volunteer position and has the possibility
    of promotion, demotion, and expulsion.

    Organization:

    – The intern will be under direct supervision of the Pastor.
    – All concerns will go to the Pastor.
    Academic Schedule:
    -Training provided if intern is not currently a student undergoing theological classes.

    Must Haves:
    -The submission of your current resume.
    -Willing to submit to a level 4 Florida background check through the Sheriffs office.
    -Must have three references: one family member, one long term friend, and one pastoral recommendation.
    -Be willing to adhere to a Timothy/Titus Biblical ethic in your dealings summarized here as “being above reproach”. Failure to do so can lead to levels of correction up to early dismissal from the program.

    Additional Information:
    -All internships require a minimum of a 3 month commitment with priority being give to those who will commit to a year followed by those who will commit to 6 months. (Two year internships are warmly encouraged).
    -All interns are required to give the church 10 hours a week in service which includes two hours on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. The additional 6 hours can be broken up as needed.
    -We encourage rest and you will have every non-event Saturday off as rest, as well as the ability to travel home as needed. For each 3 months you are committed you have off 1 week for vacation. Your duties will be fully excused that/those weeks.
    -Each internship will be tailored to the needs and goals of the intern/minister in training. This simply means that all paths won’t look exactly the same. If one is more inclined to kids ministry and another to worship these will look noticeably different.
    -Work outside of the program is not discouraged as it may assist in expanding your ministry. We have a large school across the street that has several jobs as well as restaurants within a short drive. Each schedule will look different. Some will choose to work full-time, some part-time, and some will just focus on their studies and all three are fully accepted.
    -We are very cooperative with our other local churches. A spirit of cooperation locally is very important to who our church is.
    -For the length of time you intern you will be join our church fellowship and be an example member in giving and serving.
    -If your financial needs are greater than the stipend or stipend/job then additional funds may need to be raised.
