    Job Description

    It’s Current Music Ministry:

    The church has a choir that leads in worship each week and frequently does special worship music including combining with other churches for special events.  About 10 individuals rotate in leading worship through Praise Teams each week and 9 individuals assist regularly playing keyboards, guitars and drums. Several others play other wind instruments occasionally.  6 people rotate assisting with media for worship which includes streaming our service on line.  All these volunteer groups include adults and youth.  The church’s worship includes strong congregational singing.

    About the Position to be Filled:

    Highland Park First Baptist Church is looking for the man God has called to lead us to God’s throne in worship each week.  He will be responsible to lead, plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate a comprehensive music/worship ministry.  He must recruit, train and oversee volunteer participation in praise teams, adult/youth/children choirs, instrumentalists and a media/tech team.  He must lead the church in blended worship of various styles (Col. 3:16) that will include hymns, gospel music and contemporary praise songs which are doctrinally sound and promote strong congregational singing.

    This man must meet the following requirements/preferences:

    • He must display a genuine love for the Lord and a strong commitment to the local church.
    • He must have good organizational and relational skills.
    • He must be in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
    • His education and experience in music/worship leadership must be adequate for the job.
    • He must have the ability and willingness to train, encourage and develop youth in worship leadership.
    • He must have a working knowledge of (or willingness to be trained in) the necessary sound and media technology skills, including setup, use and maintenance of a professional audio and video streaming system.
    • It is preferred that he be proficient in playing an appropriate instrument while leading in worship.
    • He must be willing to work under the Lead Pastor’s supervision and to work subject to the church’s current Constitution and Bylaws as well as the staff handbook. He must meet regularly with and work in coordination with the entire church staff and other relevant ministry leaders and volunteers for effectively carrying out his ministry in accordance with the identity and vision of the church.
