DESCRIPTION

The Director of Worship (DoW) is responsible for leading the musical worship in all corporate gatherings of the church. Warrenton Baptist Church uniquely stewards two differently-styled worship services – a “contemporary” service that utilizes more modern musical styles and songs and a “traditional” service that pays homage to our rich historical roots and heritage. The DoW will show competency in leading music in both of these environments, creatively using his or her musical strengths to enrich both worship services. The DoW will work closely with the Senior Pastor and other staff to plan and facilitate all corporate gatherings of the church.

DESIRED QUALITIES

• Strong administrative skills
• Strong relationship-building / interpersonal skills
• Experience leading groups of vocalists
• Proficiency on either guitar or piano
• Proficient in the following software or able to learn and adapt: Planning Center Online, ProPresenter7, Mac OSx
• General understanding of sound board operations, livestream setup, and projection system

REQUIREMENTS

• Exhibits a Vibrant and Growing Relationship with Christ (Col. 2:6-7; 2 Peter 3:18)
• Agreement with WBC’s Statement of Faith
• Previous experience leading worship in a corporate setting
• Strong lead vocalist
• The DoW will become a member of Warrenton Baptist Church

• On-site for all weekend services
• Weekly staff meeting
• Special church-wide events
• Rehearsals for Band/Choir
• Special trainings for volunteers
• Flexible Office Hours
• Sunday evening music rehearsals for children and youth when necessary

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

1. Work with teams of volunteers to lead the musical worship for Sunday Morning services and other special services of Worship
2. Recruit, train, and rehearse with the worship team that leads worship for the Contemporary Service
3. Coordinate with accompanist and lead hymns for the Traditional Service
4. Recruit and direct a choir that assists in worship as needed
5. Coordinate with Senior Pastor on Scriptural themes for worship services and choose songs that correspond
6. Participate in weekly Worship Planning Meeting
7. Administrate and oversee the weekly volunteer rotations for all singers, musicians, and worship
media volunteers
8. Plan and execute special seasonal worship services (examples: Good Friday, Easter Sunrise,
Christmas Eve, etc.)
9. Assist Senior Pastor in planning of weekly services, special gatherings, and other services as required
10.Lead and equip children and youth in various musical capacities
11. Maintain and upgrade sound and A/V systems as needed
12.Recruit volunteers to assist in various worship media positions
13.Minister to and disciple volunteers within the worship ministry
14.Oversee the creation of ProPresenter Cues for all worship services

OTHER DUTIES
1. Submit annual budget requests for worship-related ministries to the Ministry Council and monitor and oversee execution of ministry strategies and budget during the year.
2. Participate in staff meetings and leadership training sessions/retreats.
3. Assist in other tasks as assigned.
