    Job description:

    • Leads or provides regular worship services and sacramental rites appropriate to constituencies in all levels of care within the community. • Leads or provides special services that are inclusive and welcoming to all faiths and denominations. These may include: Special celebrations Holidays Memorial Services • Coordinate with worship leaders from other faiths to provide appropriate services to fit the spiritual requests of residents: Catholic Mass Jewish Holy Days Meditation groups Christian services for denominations as appropriate Other services as appropriate • Helps coordinate volunteers and/or leads Bible Study classes. • Conducts a monthly grief support group. • As part of the interdisciplinary team, regularly visits residents in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing/Rehab Center. Visits residents who are in the hospital as needed. • Builds relationships of trust through visits, presence, counsel and conversations with residents, team members and others. • As appropriate counsel’s residents and their families, as well as team members, especially in response to issues of life transitions, end of life, grief and loss. • Completes an initial spiritual assessment of all new residents in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing/Rehab Center and documents in the electronic medical record. Completes a progress note for subsequent resident visits. • Maintains confidentiality of all resident medical and personal information. • Works with individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds. • Recruits and supervises volunteers.

    Position qualifications:

    • Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Theological Studies (MTS) or equivalent from an accredited college or university or theological school. • Ordained in good standing with their denominational judicatory and/or ecclesiastical endorsement for specialized ministry. • Demonstrated experience working in environments that foster religious diversity and inclusion. • Ability to provide pastoral care to residents and team members regardless of religious or spiritual background or belief and to support the whole community as an ongoing, organic system. • Special skills in non-judgmental listening and providing counsel, guidance in ethical decision making, and mediation and conflict resolution. • Ability to work collaboratively. • Ability to distinguish between spiritual counseling and psychotherapy, and in consultation with other team members, a willingness to make referrals to appropriate professionals. • Ability to maintain confidentiality, mandated reporting requirements and HIPAA regulations.
