    Job Description

    The Pastor we seek will be someone who can inspire our church members to become engaged and active in the pursuit of our mission to Love Others…Share Christ…and Serve the World, and be instrumental in increasing our membership.

    Our new Pastor will support our Core Values of:

    – Being a Welcoming, Caring Community of Faith – Treating People with Gentleness and Respect – Promoting the Spiritual Growth of Individuals and Families – Helping People Find God’s Unique Calling in their Lives – Stepping Out in Faith and Taking Risks for God Key Roles: We are seeking a Pastor who has the following strengths: – Leads our church to love others, share Christ, and serve the world – Equips members to take active roles in the church’s ministries – Preaches and teaches God’s Word – Helps individuals to know Christ and grow spiritually in Christ-like service Personal Qualifications: We are in search of a minister who: – Has a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ – Shares and supports the church’s vision and core values – Is spiritually mature and emotionally secure – Is outgoing, approachable, and relates/works well with all ages/kinds of people – Is a person of integrity who can be trusted and who keeps confidences – Is a caring, compassionate person who is sensitive to the needs of others and who is available to people when needed – Promotes spiritual unity, fellowship, and mutual respect within the congregation – Identifies with and actively supports the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship – Is an ordained minister and has Pastoral experience – Seeks to glorify God and follow His leading in all things Ministry Skills: We are seeking a Pastor with gifts of, and experience in, these pastoral functions: – Helps members discover their gifts and best ways of serving God and others – Facilitates the development of new small groups and ministry teams – Provides crisis Pastoral care – Leads worship that enables individuals to meet and communicate with the living God – Deals with conflict constructively, promotes mediation, and builds consensus – Teaches and preaches God’s truth in a way that produces change in people’s lives – Trains leaders and new members – Is an effective administrator and supervisor of church staff Principal Function: The Pastor is responsible for leading our congregation to glorify God, to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and to equip members for ministry (Ephesians 4:11-13). Proclamation and Pastoral care are also important Pastoral functions. The Pastor will continually improve ministry skills through personal study and continuing education.

    Responsibilities of the Pastor:

    1. Work with the church staff and the Worship Team to plan and conduct life-changing worship that enables people to praise and experience God. The Pastor shall preach God’s Word in ways that connect with the ever-changing real issues and needs of people. 2. Lead the church in developing growth groups that help people mature spiritually and care for one another. The Pastor shall enlist, encourage, and equip members for leading small group ministry. 3. Lead the church in developing ministry teams through which individuals can work for God and help others in Jesus’ name. 4. Lead the church in training leaders and new members and in enlisting, equipping, and motivating members to use their unique gifts for ministry in ways that they can best serve God and others. 5. Provide administrative oversight for church staff and guidance for lay leaders in their work. 6. Support the work and leadership of the Ministry Coordinating Council (MCC) and provide feed-back as needed. 7. Lead the church members to care for one another and others. The Pastor shall provide Pastoral care and counseling. 8. Work with the Finance Committee, Trustees, and Endowment Committee to strengthen the congregation’s stewardship of time, talents, and finances. 9. Train and lead members in sharing their faith in Jesus Christ with others outside the church.
