    Job Description

    Goleta Community Covenant Church is seeking a leader for our Junior High and High School ministries. We are looking for someone who will disciple and shepherd youth in our church and community toward a relationship with Jesus. This position is part time, however: Additional skills such as leading Worship and/or Website/Tech Oversight are valued as well and could be combined to form a full time position.

    Position Focus: To give leadership and oversight to Junior High and High School

    Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Eric Sorenson, Lead Pastor Partners with other staff and the Leadership Board

    Student Ministry Responsibilities: Our church’s focus is: “Loving God, Following Jesus and Serving Others.” Essentially, this position is responsible for leading our church in accomplishing this with Junior High, High School, and College students.

    Responsibilities Include:
    Oversee administration and management of all areas of ministry related to Jr. High, High School, and College Ministries.
    Coordinate and spearhead programs to increase church members’ service throughout the youth ministry.
    Lead programs such as study, fellowship, and service opportunities.
    Assist in providing spiritual and administrative leadership to the church, including managing daily operations, developing, and administering annual budget, delivering compassionate pastoral care to community and leading worship services, sacraments, funerals, and weddings.
    Occasionally plan and conduct worship services, write sermons and work with key church leaders to carry out church mission.
    Raise congregational awareness of needs and contributions of youth to church life and operations.
    Work with stewardship to promote responsible biblical stewardship.
    Provide spiritual care through visitation, counseling, and prayer.
    Leadership, oversight and planning of mid-week meetings.
    Train, recruit and empower a corps of volunteer staff and student leaders where every student gets a meaningful contact.
    Leadership, oversight and planning of retreats, camps and other discipleship or outreach events.
    Develop relationships with college students with a view toward establishing an ongoing college ministry.
    Regularly report about ministry to the congregation
    Work in harmony with the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Pacific Southwest Conference

    This person joins a church staff team that is committed to Jesus, to each other and to helping CCC live into its vision. This means that as a member of the church staff team, this person will help with the broader church events of CCC.

    An MDiv or equivalent with experience leading in youth ministry.
    A growing relationship with Jesus.
    Passionate about student ministry.
    Self motivated and teachable.
    Able to lead, but also be part of a team.
