In recent years, Holy Trinity Church has been blessed with an increase in young families with children, and we believe God is leading us to nurture the faith of these children/families in creative, holistic, and developmentally appropriate ways. Fostering a hospitable, loving, and formational environment is crucial for all who attend HTC of all ages. The primary functions of this ministry position are: (1) teach age-appropriate curriculum, (2) coordinate volunteers, and (3) set-up and tear-down the classroom.
This position oversees children ages 3-10 and reports to the Director of Faith Formation (DDF).
1. Teach Age-Appropriate Curriculum
Learns the biblical curriculum and pedagogical approach chosen by the DFF.
Participates in biannual training sessions with the DFF.
Participates in the teaching rotation (meaning 1 out of 3 weeks).
Adopts a prayerful, contemplative, attentive posture toward the formational work of the Spirit in each child.
2. Coordinate Volunteers
Works with the DFF to recruit volunteers and coordinate a volunteer schedule – 1 Storyteller & 1 Welcoming Host for each Sunday.
Ensures all children are being properly monitored and cared for by volunteers.
Provides support to volunteers and helps with classroom management.
Troubleshoots problems as they arise each Sunday (e.g., teacher back-up, supply needs).
Stands as the primary point of contact for volunteers regarding schedule and classroom.
3. Set-Up & Tear-Down
Creates and maintains a clean, well-organized, safe, welcoming, and creative environment for children.
Ensures the classroom is a place of joy, play, and friendship
Provides all teaching materials for each week’s lesson and response.
Keeps an up-to-date record of attendance and contact information.
Exemplify love and support to all members of HTC.
Lively Christian faith and maturity.
Able to teach children’s curriculum in a joyful and invitational way.
Able to communicate effectively with staff, parents, volunteers
Strong organizational skills.
Works well in collaboration with others.
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator is expected to work in the classroom and church at 2:00-4:15pm on Sundays, plus any additional time for scheduling and programming throughout the week. Requests for time off needs to be presented to the DFF at least two weeks in advance, and the Children’s Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for finding substitutes from an approved volunteer list.
COMPENSATION: $75-100 per week
