    Job Description

    Purpose:
    The purpose of this position is to build young disciples of Jesus Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to children ministries (3 years to 5thgrade).

    Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of work experience related to children, with a genuine love of Jesus Christ grounded in the Wesleyan theology of the United Methodist Church, and a calling and passion to work with children.
    The candidate shall have the ability to develop and teach biblically, displaying a strong knowledge of the United Methodist Structure and doctrine, with a focus on helping children apply lessons in their lives.
    The candidate must possess the ability to work well with others, recruit and train volunteers, have sound judgement, be spiritually mature, self-confident, courageous, enthusiastic, friendly, possess high integrity, a positive personality, have a strong character and have the physical ability to meet the demands of the job.
    The candidate must have a minimum of a B.A. degree or comparable work experience.

    Duties:
    Maintain a covenant of Christian living.
    Recruit, train and support Sunday School teachers, and all others who work with the children.
    Sustain “Safe Sanctuaries”. Training all staff and volunteers in Safe Sanctuary policy at all children’s ministry’s events.
    Establish and maintain nurturing relationships with both children and their families, by providing consistent and effective communications with them.
    Plan and coordinate children ministry’s involvement in the annual Youth Sunday in cooperation with the Pastor and Music Director.
    Encourage and coordinate various opportunities for missions and children’s activities.
    Plan, support, and promote weekly Bible study and spiritual growth opportunities for Children.
    Developing goals for Children’s ministries and planning and implementing same.

    Supervision:
    The pastor will have day–to-day supervisory responsibilities for the Children’s Ministry Director.
    Annual evaluations will be the responsibility of the pastor and are signed by the Pastor and staff employee. The evaluation is reviewed by the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).
    The SPRC will meet annually with the Children’s Ministry Director.
    The SPRC has the authority to hire and terminate the Children’s Ministry Director.

    Time Considerations and Paid Time Off:
    This position is considered Part-Time(10-15 hours a week). Office hours to be worked out with Pastor and/or SPRC. Allow time, as needed, for visitation, attending children’s activities (concerts, sporting events, graduations, etc.) and attending church meetings and ministry activities scheduled outside of normal office hours.
    Time spent on fundraisers, children’s outings, etc. to be considered part of work hours. Comp time is subject to Pastor’s approval.
    The Children’s Ministry Director will coordinate Leadership during any planned absence.
    Notification of time off should be made to the Pastor.

    Compensation:
    This position is considered Part-Time, and the salary is based on education and/or training and experience.
    Salary range for this position is $10,000-$15,000 annually
